Running a 9.6V drill at 12V
Can a 9.6V drill motor (cheap china-made drill) be run at 12V (25% increase) as long as we put a heatsink and/or fan on it? We ran 6V fisher price on a full 12V with no problems so I assume 9.6V>12V won't be much of a problem either. Is this true?

Probably... until you stall it and it melts itself.
Why not just use a 12v drill? they're uber cheap nowadays. |

Echoing what Cory stated, you will increase the power dissipation at stall to 156% of full rated. These motors need to turn in order to cool themselves. In a stall condition, a failure is much more likely at 12V than at 9.6V.
