CD's "Name the Mentor" picture contest

OK, it is time for some fun. How about a new game? A few of us were chatting and an idea came up: What did mentors look like when they were kids and teenagers? What did Dave Lavery look like at 10? Was Raul on the baseball team? Who wore those ugly tuxes and prom dresses in the 70's?

This is called the "NAME THE MENTOR" picture game. Mentors will submit pictures, and all of us will guess who they are. It will be wicked fun.

FIRST team mentors, lets see those pictures. If you want to participate, please follow these instructions:
  • picture must be at least 15 years old
  • email a scanned version of the picture to mentorpics@indianafirst.org
  • pictures must be "appropriate"
  • mentor pics can only be sent by the same person in the pic
  • suggested picture size 200x200 dpi or larger
  • submitting the picture allows game administrators to use it

ChiefDelphi.com users, here is where the game comes in. 3 mentor pics will be posted each week. CD users will guess who the mentors are. Follow these rules:
  • Users only get 1 vote per mentor
  • 1st correct guess gets 2 points
  • All subsequent correct guesses get 1 point
  • Any user to guess all 3 pics correctly gets 1 "bonus" point
  • Discussion can take place as voting takes place, but only on the same post you vote in
  • each round of 3 pictures will last 1 week

As soon as we get 3 pictures, the game will start.

The fools responsible for this game are Rich Kressly, Karthik Kanagasabapathy, Josh Hambright, and myself.

Enjoy!

I already put my pic up a while back when I was 10 (15 years ago - Ahhh scary) and yeah.. it was a no brainer who it was.

Sounds like fun though. Can't wait to start the guessing. :)

At least 15 years old? Is there a minimum age limit for this? ;)

Josh Hambright 26-05-2005 11:18

Re: CD's "Name the Mentor" picture contest

There is no age limit, as long as the picture isn't of an embryo, because well honestly all embryos look the same, i know its sad to say but its true, Also keep in mind that most baby pictures before like1 year olds look identicle, or very close to identicle, a ball of hair and chubb wrapped in some cute clothes:)

submissions have started coming in, keep them coming, this game is gonna rock!

Get ready folks, we're almost ready to rock and roll with our first installment of the game. This is what happens when a couple of whackos get an idea at 2 am. Some excellent photos are already in. If you're a mentor and haven't yet submitted what are you waiting for? Where else will you get this kind of opportunity to humiliate yourself? The game creators vow to rain postivie rep points for those courageous enough to step forth in the name of fun.

Well folks the pictures for round 1 are online.
Check them out, follow the rules, and have fun:)
Awww aren't these kids just adorable? What happened to them when they grew up?!?! :yikes: So if you want all of us to see how cute you were as a kid or that sweet back to the future costume you wore to your high school halloween party or that killer baby blue tux you wore to prom or that poodle skirt you wore to the pep rally, send your pictures to mentorpics@indianafirst.org and we'll get them into the que for people to guess your identity!

You can submit pictures here. I'm guessing that Josh ar Andy Baker is taking the lead and running the contest.

Are we allowed to change our guesses?

I'd put in my own but I think I'd be rather easy to figure out.

To answer some questions:

M.: They are being submitted by the person in the picture, everyone should submit one!

Daniel: The people responsible are Rich Kressly, Andy Baker, Karthik and myself

ogre: No you get one guess per picture, although it is worth more points to be the first to guess, you dont want to guess before you sure of who it is.

Ed: Come on, it would still be fun to see a picture of you in a little league uniform!

I saw recently a new internet-service that allowed people to search yearbooks from any number of high schools and was generally freaked out by it. It seemed an enormous invasion of privacy. I'm glad to see that people are consenting to have their bad hair displayed to the world :)

Is it possible to make sure all the mentors who do submit these pictures have a WAI pic on CD to compare to?

I was thinking the opposite Shyra. All mentors should take their photos off to increase the difficulty ;) ... This game is turning out to be rather entertaining. I can't wait to see Lavery in a diaper :ahh:
