yea team 176 was with the cyber knights, that "knock over" was definently needed to be looked at again. Their arm was alil high up there an could have easily been tipped by anyone or anything. Our alliance did good, an i'm proud of them..congrats, we had soo much fun! :D But i will agree the judges did call some calls that were alil misjudging!

Congrats to 1511, 181, and 237, u guys did put a fight..i will admit that! ;)

It's hard getting "professionals" out of volunteers.
Most off season competitions are happy to get what they get.
It could be worse.
You could have no refs and no Bash at the Beach.

Bash at the Beach was a great event this year - except for the humidity. The thing that amazed me is our team's ghetto-fab engineering to fix a shatteret sprocket on our arm. In the last qualifaction round we shattered a sprocket that holds our arm in place during autonomous. We didn't have a replacement, so we Gorilla-glued the pieces back together, and then put a pipe clamp around that to hold the pieces in place. And it actually lasted for the rest of the competition.

Yup, and they did a great job for what resources they had. Kudos Team 236, 521, and the whole B@B crew! :)

As far as the refs, we did tip 2 bots in one match. While not intentional, that threw the outcome off by a bit, and they had to call it. Totally understandable.

This should serve as a lesson: dont try to push 195! ;)

Congrats 237, 1151, and 181!

Thank you all and thank you teams 1511 and 181, we all worked great with each other. Thank you teams 228, 803, and 839 for a great finals competition.

Also I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers that made this all possible, it was a great event.

.. i have to agree that 195 puts together a very solid machine that is almost impossible to push.

Yea we had our arm gears not work during our qualifying matches, which was the reason for us playing some defense for awhile, but as soon as the final rounds came around our arm was working wonderfully again! :D Just shows what alil luck an pacience can bring you. Overall, w/ the exception of the humidity it was a great event, an fun was had by all! It was very well organized, an I know my team plans on coming back next year.

Sorry for some of the things I might have said in my last post on this thread, I was kinda irrated, if not like the rest of our alliances for the calls, but it's understandable.

Re: Bash at the Beach 2005 ??

I would love nothing more than to say that we finally made it to a finals match. But, unfortunately, Team 228 and it's alliance with Teams 809 and 839 only made it to the semi-finals. The other finals alliance was composed of Teams 155, 500, and 1027. We fought through 3 tough matches with them, each of which were won and lost by a tetra. Great job to the refs in all of these intense elimination rounds.

One of the shockers of the day was in the quarter finals. RAGE, Team 173 was partnered with 1099 and ???. After the 1st match team 1099 broke, and was seemingly out for the day. RAGE came to the rescue (as they brought their other practice robot in) and they swapped that robot in for 1099! It was one of the scariest sights I've ever seen, seeing TWO 173 robots competing on the same side of the field. Even more amazingly they lost their last match, as they were beaten by the eventual champs.

Obviously, the torrential rains did little to stop the true spirit of the Bash at the Beach! Thanks to everyone for a great competition.

I thought the quarterfinal matches were very intense (especially with the Rage squared robots) This competition had a lot of rubber matches during the finals, showing just how much skill was actually at the event. Another thing to note was, almost every team at the event had different drivers then last season, which I found very impressive for the driving skills that were being shown.

Actually it was the alliance of 195, 549, and 176 that beat the Rage bots in the quarter finals moving on to compete against the eventual champs, where we won two of the three matches but a pushing penalty caused the eventual champ alliance to move on.

The Alliance was 173, 1099, and 571. 1099's arm was broken so we subbed in the second RAGE bot. We also had the 1099 base driver driving the RAGE robot. He did a great job for his first time on our robot.
All in all it was a great day. We had lots of fun using the 2nd robot during the day.

Thanks to everyone who helped run Bash for a great competition.
Congrats to 237, 1511, and 181.

Thanks to teams 176 and 195 for playing so well with us (549). It was pretty intense in a few matches (like us capping the center in the last 5 or 6 seconds). thanks again guys, it really was a blast.

Re: Bash at the Beach 2005 ??

I want to say thank you for everyone. I had so much more fun than I would have ever expected. And we only went there to have fun. Winning was a super added bonus, it was more than we ever expected.
Thanks 237 and 181 for putting up a fight and pushing through the problems that came up. You were a great alliance and I really enjoyed working with you guys.
As for the tipping call with 195. I feel the tipped us on accident. It wasnt eithers fault, We both wanted the same goal and were fighting for it. I told my kids to back off.. but you guys didnt, but thats okay.
The other tip[to 181 in the same match] tho was a bit aggressive and discouraging. I would have a tough time calling that. So I am sure the judges made the best decision.

But, it was an off season and for fun. So who cares? lol. I am just happy I got to play the 2005 game one more time and that I got to see my friends. :)

And I got to coach!! And I was very proud of how I did for the first time. :)

I have finally been able to put up a photo gallery on my team's website from Bash at the Beach. I know that it is a week late, but I've had a ton of other work to do. Hope you enjoy. (More may come... )

Here is a preview of some of them:

If anyone else has any nice pictures from Bash, I'll try to add them if you'd like.
