Robotics Hand Signals
I was thinking all the FIRST robotics teams should have a hand signal. That could be use anytime, regionals, and nationals. Like if you see someone wearing a robotics shirt you would give them a hand signals to show you on a robotics team. And then the two people would be to talk and then you have meet someone you have in common with you.
What do you guys think? |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
Intresting Idea, maybe American Sign Language? Lots of people use that already. Also maybe a set of hand signals that could be developed for coaches to use to signify on the field what they want the other teams to do since it gets so loud at times. But nice idea its a pretty cool thought.

Re: Robotics Hand Signals
Couldn't you just approach them and say hi or something (or wave)? If you were at the regionals/nationals wouldn't you already know they are on a FIRST team?

I don't like the idea. Too much like gangs.

Re: Robotics Hand Signals
Well a wave is very just not FUN!
:) Robotics teams are kinda like a gang but without the guns and junk. It would not just have to be limited to the hands. Because sports guy hit each other on the butt. Not SAY we should do that not at all  No No No. And rockers have a hand signals. |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
You can always use your hands to show your team number in binary... \nnn/ \||n/
(That's 573) |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
But what about those of us with bigger numbers? 1293 in binary is10100001101, and I don't have eleven fingers! :ahh:

Re: Robotics Hand Signals
i think that would be a grat idea and would be a nothe funn thing to do

They give a description and a little video for each word. For Robot the signer mimes the stiff walk associated with robots. http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/R/W3402.htm A more promising sign that can be used across the room and hopefully not misinterpreted is FIRST. For that the index finger is twisted to show that something was first. http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/F/W1271.htm :D |

did you convert it to ascii as well or something? 1425=10110010001 |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
i think we should all tattoo our team numbers to our heads :D
........ok well in all honesty, i would say i am pretty dedicated to my team but not that dedicated. i might paint it on my head for a few days but not more that that :p |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
I dunno about the rest of you guys, but I have enough Team 84 shirts to last me a week or two. How about just wear your team shirt all the time? Might get a little stinky for the freshman, but alumni and adults will have it easy!

Hmm, I am creative, lemme think.... Yeah. I got nothin. |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
I like this http://www.lessontutor.com/ees_asl_descibe.html
U find the sign for first at the bottom of the signs FIRST Hold left hand in "thumbs up" position. Then touch the left thumb with the index finger of a right "d" hand. |

i see a square, triangle and circle! :yikes: just they're not in the right order. (your left fist can be a square sorta, your left thumb and right index finger make the top of a triangle, and your right hand minus the index finger is a circle!!!) ~Stephanie Team 1351 |
Re: Robotics Hand Signals
:ahh: I didn't even think about that GOOD eye very creativity.
