Einstein Database

1 Attachment(s)
Here's a database that I put together that combines the SOAP database, Ed Sparks' database plus some data that I extracted from the Regional Results. No guarantees for accuracy, but what I've double checked has all been right. Sorry I cover any other divisions - it took too long just for Einstein.

Hope someone finds it useful.

Very useful, dude, much appreciation to you for your effort.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure if it's too late for corrections, but in Team 7's data, it says that we won our first event (Virginia) when actually we won our second event (New Jersey). Also,we seeded 3rd in New Jersey. But the spreadsheet is otherwise great!

data -> information

All-

Now that we've established a good enough process to get the match results (next year we'll get more regionals LiVE) from the scoring db, the objective becomes let's turn all the "data" we have into useful "information."

The excel files and such that have been posted thus far are all a big step in the right direction. We're certainly glad to see the data being put to good use.

There are some charts SOAP does in excel also, but we haven't found a cool (and easy) way to do it Live on our site. Brio has plug-ins, coldfusion does have <cfgraph>, Java is an option, also Flash. If you have any good suggestions, let us know.

p.s. We had originally planned to allow a public read-only ODBC account straight into our DB, but that kinda got pushed back by higher priority stuff. So, if we did allow custom SQL statements to be executed in 2003, what creative (but useful) queries could you come up with?

(Don't worry, SQL SELECT statements are fairly easy and are written using plain english..... i.e. there's not to many fancy characters needed)
