I'm shocked you would consider ME dense: I actually consider myself very sensitive to the feelings of others, the the point that I hold doors open for ladies, offer to carry stuff if their arms are full, and not curse in their presence.(well, i do that anyway)

So some guys may be dense, but not me:D (just wanted to get that message out there:D ;)

As for flirting and counter flirting (?)(you know what I mean)
basically what harrison said, some things are quite subtle, and may not be construed as flirting. Esp. if you know the person, or kinda joke around a lot by nature.
