Encoder Wiring Quesiton
OK... I was searching for how to hookup the Agilent quadrature encoder our team is using. I came across this site and searched but my questions weren't completely answered.
Our encoder has 4 wires: Phase A, B, Gnd, +5V. My question is how are they hooked on the RC? I get that the A and B are hooked separately. Are both hooked to the SIG slots? Secondly, are the Gnd and +5V inputs hooked to other Digital I/O pins or a set of the above? Thanks for any help you can provide. |

Gnd connects to the ground or "black" (outside) digital pin +5v connects to the center pin for your power. Typically we connect the A, +5v, and Gnd to one of the digital input sets and the B line to another. |
Re: Encoder Wiring Quesiton
Kevin Watson has an example program for encoders that also covers how to wire them. It's definetly worthwhile to check it out. http://kevin.org/frc/frc_encoder.zip. He has a bunch of other example programs at http://kevin.org/frc/.
