Boston Teams

I'm from a rookie team, 1568. I was on their drive team and know a little about the engineering aspects, i did however help build the bot since there are only 9 kids on the team...Next year, 2006, i will be at Boston University and although i will be helping out 1568 from time to time, i was looking for a team closer to boston that would be able to use me...
I am not ready to let go to FIRST

Team 246 is based out of Boston University. They are a great team and I'm sure would love the help :)

Since you will be a freshman in college next year, I would suggest helping out a team that is close before branching out anywhere else. If you do a search on it, you can see many posts from college students whose main advice about the new college-student relationship with FIRST is to focus on your studies. Helping out a well-established team will help you better manage your time devoted to studies and what you devote to everything else.

Looks like Jessica has beaten me to it, but:

Team 246 has an office/lab on the fifth floor of the Photonics building. I worked with them the year I was in grad school ("Stack Attack"). There should be flyers posted around the engineering buildings once the build season approaches. Of course, I can't remember the names of the faculty advisors. Shame on me.

Guju, my appologies for any difficulty you may have had if you've been trying to get in touch with 246. I'm the leader there and we're always looking for new members. JB is right about concentrating on your studies - if you're an engineering student here you'll find yourself with a full schedule (through your senior year) before you even get to your first class. Anyway, get in touch with me on campus and let me know how much involvement you'd like to have with the team. We've got a big year coming up. The best way to contact me is e-mail: mensing@bu.edu
