disapearing accelerometer

one of our accelerometers is gone but when i looked on Google i realized there are some really nice ones available. I'm considering buying a high g accelerometer. any suggestions, advice, or knowledge about regulations?

I could have suggestions, but would want to first know what type of application you are thinking of. Generally high-g accelerometer would be useful for collisions, doesn't seem to have many applications to FIRST robots offhand.

actually i was thinking of bringing autonomous mode more into normal play where collisions are a constant. i know it seems like a far flung idea but its gonna happen eventually and having accelerometers is a must to have the robot work in general play
