Re: Hello British Teams

Why do you bomb in the name of a confrence meeting to discuss poverty? For once a too long of a time, 8 men that have the power to change the way history will be written and the way some of the poorest people in the world will live their lives. And what do some people think of it? They use it as an excuse to set off bombs and kill innocent civilans. Enough anger and frustration, I hope everyone is well and ok, London is one of my favorite places in the world and living there was one of the best experinces of my life.

Terrorists will use anything as an excuse to kill people.

My thoughts and sympathies go out to those affected by this tragedy.

So thanks then, terrorists. You’ve just succeeded in bringing the families of millions of Londoners that bit closer together, giving them an increased love of their city and an enhanced appreciation of their way of life. You might have destroyed the lives of several hundred people, but – and this is stating the bloody obvious you idiots – you’ve achieved nothing. My train goes through Kings Cross and my office is less than half a mile from three of the bombs, and how did it affect me and thousands like me? I had a longer walk to the station on the way home; it was an otherwise beautiful evening and I needed the exercise anyway, so big deal. Oh, and I got a bit angry, a mood tempered by St Paul’s Cathedral, still a symbol of London’s resilience, gleaming proudly in the evening sun with a huge Make Poverty History banner wrapped around its dome.

Get it into your thick skulls that this kind of stuff just doesn’t work. Never did and never will. Right now, my thoughts go out to those who’ve been more directly affected by this morning.

Those who are evil tear things down.

Those who are heroes build them back up bigger and stronger than they were before.

To our British friends, show the world how its done.

London is perhaps the most amazing city that I have ever traveled to and I was extremely saddened to hear the news this morning. I know that it occured in the financial district, but that does not mean it is acceptable in any way. I know that you all will respond with the greatest of courage. You are all especially in my prayers, as I know that my oldest brother will be joining you to live and work in that very same area within the next week.

The RoboManiacs would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to the 2 British FLL teams we were fortunate enough to meet in Atlanta and all the British FRC teams in the wake of the horrible events in London. We can only hope that none of the team members, coaches, or families were involved in the tragedy. Please let us know if all is well and if there is anything we can do.

I heard from Alan West, mentor on Team 1542, the Heart of London. This enthusiastic team came to the Chesapeake Regional.
I don't think Alan would mind that I share his thoughts.

Dear Jenny
Thank you for your kind thoughts at this difficult time for all of us. It is hard to imagine the depravity of those who could perpetrate such acts but it redoubles our intention to make education work for all humanity to overcome such evil.
With kind regards
Alan

So thank you all

Stephen
