WANTED: Curie Video's 2005 (at IRI)

Does anybody that will be attending IRI have the full quality (like from a camcorder--not the webcast) video of all of the Curie qualification matches from 2005 as well as the awards and the Einstein matches with the awards and speeches? Preferably, the video would have been recorded at the recording station on the playing field floor (has the scores overlayed, and audio mixed, etc). It would be great if it was already in a digital format where I can just copy it to my hard drive, because I don't have a capture card.

I am looking to keep a copy for myself to look back at sometime (15 yrs? ) If anybody is willing to bring this to IRI and give it to me, post back here or email me (HFSbF5 at aol.com). Give me the details about what videos you have, media (tape, digital files, DVD), file size, etc. I will decide who's I would like to have the most and let everybody know so that I don't have 25 copies show up in our pits!

Thanks,

TJ Kelley

It would take a little time to download but all the video you are looking for is off soap's website www.soap108.com

All the videos are good quality and were recorded at location I believe, then stored on their website.

He doesn't want the webcast, though.

To the original poster, you're most likely not going to find video of every curie match, let alone with the specifications you'd like.

If you get lucky, you'll be able to get vids from a couple teams, but it'll probably only be of their matches, which means focused on their robot.

Soap's video files are not webcasts. If you right click "save as" each of the video files you want it will save as a file and they are 384kbps video (320 X 240) It is all good quality and as though it were off a VHS

It's the exact same footage as was used for the webcast.

While I have to agree that the image is high quality there is a very low fps. Not good at all for videos and the like but if its just an archive to look back on, it's fine. Becuase unless someone went out and bought a whole ton of MiniDv tapes or MiniDVDs no one will have all that footage.

Re: WANTED: Curie Video's 2005 (at IRI)

Thanks, everyone. I realize now that I am probably not going to get the full quality video, but here is some more info on what I was looking for:

Full quality means 30 fps, 720 x 480 (camcorder) preferably, or ~525 x ~350 (VHS, TV), not much compression (MPEG variants OK if at a higher bitrate)

I had a friend (and an organizer of the Boilermaker Regional) that had a Composite USB capture device and external Hard Drive. He recorded all the qualifying matches, finals, and awards. It ended up being 80GB  ! Fortunately, I borrowed his external HD and copied the videos. They had MPEG2 compression at ~1000KB/s and were 720 x 480, 30 fps. The only problem was that the audio ended up clipping all the time when the announcer was speaking. The video was great though.

Basically, I was looking for video that was DVD quality, not web video quality (320 x 240).

I know, though, that there were teams that were swapping DVD's and video tapes like every hour or two down at the recording station. The video recorded by the teams with the DVD players would be great, as long as they didn't edit out all the extra matches. If so, why would they go through the hassle of changing DVD's or video tapes, just hit record before their match!

Anyway, if you have anymore insight that would be great, if not, thanks anyway.
