It works, I assure you. They are nasty, but it it a lot easier. That kind of reminds me of the 6 saltines in 1 minute challenge. A guy on my floor this year has a strategy and he can do it in a minute. He would go two at a time and crunch two in to a ball with his teeth, and then just put them in one side of his mouth and repeat with the other side. Then they would soak up saliva while he worked on the last two. He ended up getting it down and whistling in about 52 seconds.

I think you should up the stakes a little bit, and have to wash the dozen doughnuts down with a 20 oz. of Mountain Dew (talk about a sugar high! :yikes: )

I dunno, though--Dave seems fond of Diet Coke, and I have to rock the Diet Pepsi (as it's the only way I get my caffeine fix and my doctor stays happy). Perhaps a dozen donuts and a bottle of the diet beverage of the contestant's choice?

Needless to say, the amount of raw sugar I had had alone was enough to make me have to have a garbage can next to me for most of the day. I literally had to keep going at IRI, ready to ralph. A few times it got bad, and I had to sit down.

When it was all said and done, I forfeited due to my sinuses burning, my gut full, and my knowledge of Dave's endless tummy renewed. Mr. Lavery, you have won your bet.

"C'mon Amanda, this eating doughnuts, not rocket science."
"He's better than me at both!"

Miss Morrison, you are most gracious in defeat. Well played. You did very well, and with a little off-season work on an appropriate training program, you will be ready for the next IRI Challenge (we will do it again with a quart of milk as a chaser :) ). (and thanks, Brandon, for the great video!) My only regret is that when I went back for some more Twinkies a little later, they were all gone (Tytus got to them first!).

All Krispy-Kreme-related teasing aside, Amanda did a FANTASTIC job with the talent show and other elements of IRI, and has my complete respect. She may not be able to consume way-too-many pieces of fat-fried dough as quickly as some, but she can organize, align, cajole, prod, and direct a massive group of misfit performers (and judges) better than anyone I know!

"You think that this is NOT going on CD??!!"

I love how this is NOT rocket science. Perhaps Amanda would have a little more chance of success if it were. Oh well, valiant effort. Although snarfing a donut in like 2.5 seconds is slightly ridiculous Dave. And as far as the physical size difference, we really shouldn't forget Kobayashi (world record holder in hot dog eating) is probably smaller than Amanda. If this happens at Capital Clash, the competition may be a little better prepared though, so you may want to watch out Dave.

Yet another reason why in the future I can not miss IRI, even if my team does.
Thanks for the laugh guys.

My favorite quotes:
"you know that is like 5000 calories right there"

Amanda - "dave has the best legs"
Dave - "and you have to explain why."
Amanda - "it is because i am about to ralph"
Dave - "If you say I have the best legs because you are about to ralph, that doesn't work"

You have obviously never truly experienced a White Castle burger. Although small in stature, they can be shared with all of your friends for hours after being consumed. Priceless. For everything else, there's MasterCard.

It was sure fun to watch, but sorry Dave - you've still got some work to do if you want to beat Badlands Booker - 49 in 8 minutes.

Hey Brandon, if you send me the .avi file of the movie I can convert it to a h.264 MPG for Mac users (and those running windows).

Hah, man now i can remember this moment for ever!
Amanda: "Josh donut contest starting! Come to the Volunteer room!"
Me: "What umm hold on, gotta finish posting on CD, no forget it i'm there"

Favorite Quotes: Colin Fultz "Somebody go get the sawdust..."

Me: "Theres the caption Contest there... Dave Eating Donuts, Pinkies OUT."

And then of course when we realized we were missing the finals and all the refs had to leave.

Atleast now i get to see how it ended.

Excelent Cinematagraphy and editing B.

So you're the one who said that! I was wondering. If I remember right, the caption contest this week was taken from this exact line. I think I mashed the pause button on "cap-."

(Straying completely from the topic, do you know how hard it is to get a good single frame from a WMV file? Very hard.)

As we speak, the "Alka Seltzer U.S. Open of Competitive Eating" is showing on ESPN. Two 2-pound plates of spaghetti bolognese in two minutes 15 seconds! Oh boy, Amanda, I think we have our next challenge! Start training now!

OMG! I just saw "Badlands" in the pasta-eating phase of the competition - 2 pounds in 89 seconds!!!! Watching the contest from his perspective (via the "chew view" camera) is frightening. You're right, he has a VERY big head start on us amateurs! About an extra 240 pounds worth...[/edit]

Wow, this video was entertaining!

Now that the Krispy-Kreme Challenge has being successfully piloted at the 2005 IRI, let’s make it an official Challenge in the 2006 Atlanta Championship!

Re: IRI Krispy Kreme Challenge 2005

I just had an Uber Idea, let me pitch it and see what you guys think.

What if we had a formal Krispy Kreme eat off? My idea to make it a little more intresting is to have a 8-16 person play off, over the course of the 3 days next year in Atlanta?
-1 Competitor per team (teams can have their own playoffs to get someone to compete)
-Each round is 12 doughnuts per person, first one done wins.
-Each competitor pays a fee (to cover cost of doughnuts)
-Oh and this will be a real eat off, no dipping in any substance is permitted. You also cannot alter the doughnut in any fashion before eating it.

I want to keep the 1 on 1 playoffs so that way we can have Lavery Vs Morrison esque match ups.
