That's awesome. You might be able to use it at some offseason events where they aren't as strict. It would be really cool if FIRST would change the rules to allow it.

Re: pic of my LCD screen

oh having a HUD is legal you can use it. its what its used for that makes it legal or illegal but it in itself is fine.

It's a scene from Stargate SG-1.
It's not Atlantis, because their gate looks different.

my geuss is that is a pre season 5 episode of stargate sg1. im thinking the episode with the nano-probes, that aged o'neill, but i may be wrong, the camera didnt capture the quality very well.

mechanicalbrain 28-07-2005 22:19

Re: pic of my LCD screen

yeah thats it down to the episode. so any thoughts to the screen itself?

I want to put a touchscreen LCD and a Mac Mini in my car. But I do not have the money or the skill to mod in a screen.

Cool.

mechanicalbrain 28-07-2005 23:14

Re: pic of my LCD screen

the Mac mini rocks! but their are sites that show how to do that.

Re: pic of my LCD screen

Cool. What are your plans for the screen? My guess is that you are planing on using it as a diagnostic display (which I think is legal, but I'm not 100% sure)? We have also thought about this, but it was a back burner project that never got completed. I look forward to seeing your end result.

Re: pic of my LCD screen

first answer its a pain in the butt to get i found it mentioned in a bunch of CP mod sites and i tracked it down to this company in europe who orders it from Hong Kong but heres the link http://www.success-hk.com/pp/item_de...9-5AA7C5BDF348 (not you have to register with their site but dont worry ive been registered for a month and no trouble). how do i control it? well im not sure i understand but ill try anyway. the screen runs on both PAL and NTSC and it works on a normal RCA connection. it also has controls for volume, brightness, and contrast. the price is normally $100 but the site i bought it off of sold it for $55 (that includes shipping). this is really nice! it has surprisingly good resolution and super easy to connect (its just like pluging in a normal TV).

Re: pic of my LCD screen

we are working on lower cost versions (naturally, thats what engineers do)

but even at these initial-release prices, we cant make them fast enough to fill the orders we get.

I have to say, out of the eight companies I have worked for as an engineer (including GE Aerospace, Rockwell International, Xerox, and Sayette (the company that invented video projectors) working at Icuiti is the most fun Ive had.

I have my own V920 (the one that looks like Jordi's viewer) and I love watching DVDs and movies on my RCA Lyra MP4 player, sitting outside in the hammock, or lying on the couch 'looking' at the ceiling.

I know we are only scratching the surface with 640x480 resolution, but I think once we get to 1024 or 1280, just about everyone will want a VideoEyewear display system.

[BTW - I hope nobody thinks Im spamming the forum by posting the link from the company I work for - Im only bringing this up because I think being an engineer and getting to design products like this is an awesome way to make a living - that and bragging about my design just a bit :^) ]

To be honest, I don't think the future is in super small screens that display pictures/video. It will be in a projection kind of system, that projects an image onto the eye so your whole view is that movie.

Greg Marra 30-07-2005 14:17

Re: pic of my LCD screen

Still, those wearable displays are key for augmented reality systems.

Do you know of any companies that make them transparent? I've seen some things done with old LCD projector panels, but nothing small scale.

it might only be a manner of semantic, but super small LCDs with backlights and lenses are projecting the image into your eye.

The thing that is driving the market for VideoEyewear is all these products coming out that want to have big LCDs, like multimedia players, cell phones with streaming video, PDAs and wearable computers. Everyone wants a big image but nobody wants to carry a 17" LCD around for portable use.

Transparent videoEyewear? I think there is a company that is selling 320 x240 systems in the asian market that is transparent. We are also working on a similar research program for law enforcement agencies.

That was another idea of mine, kind of like in video games where you have all your stats displayed on screen. A sort of plastic shield in front, that allows you to see through it yet images can be displayed on it.

Re: pic of my LCD screen

Or you could go with what I've got ( http://www.goldmine-elec-products.co...em=1&mite m=2) it's alot more confusing to hook up (don't even ask me how i did it), but it works, i mean i can't do much with it at the moment, but when i get better at programming who knows. plus it only costs 20 bucks :D .

mechanicalbrain 30-07-2005 18:22

Re: pic of my LCD screen

yeah i saw those but its too much trouble. i want to see flexible screens. i rigged my screen up to a camera and used a high power flashlight with IR filter
and used it for night vision. it was extremely cool.
