Survivor:Indianapolis host Chris Fultz explained that this IRI Krispy Kreme Immunity Challenge required speed and agility: the Survivors must drive to Indiana where they will organize groups of pumped-up high school students and wacky adults; then navigate through a series of robot pits without being delayed by enthusiastic fans. Once at the end of the pit area, the Survivors must consume a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. The Challenge started with a flurry as the Final Two hurried onto the playing field. Dave took the early lead with Amanda falling behind. It was a close competition as the popular mentors made their way through the throng of cheering onlookers. With Dave clearly ahead, Amanda had difficulty swallowing the sweet treats. In the end, Dave outwitted, outplayed and outlasted the younger challenger to take home the Immunity idol.

After defeating Takeru Kobayashi (guy famous for eating 53 1/2 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes) in the semifinals by devouring 3145.3947465 Krispy Kreme Donuts in 12 minutes (one of the many abilities given to him being Super Dave!) Dave advanced to the finals to face Amanda. Despite a bulging stomach filled with 3145.3947465 donuts Super Dave easily finished off Amanda with style.

True eating style is when you can pick every other KK donut out of the bow and leave the rest standing straigth up, as demonstrated in this picture of one (almost) finished box eaten by one Dave Lavery and another box being worked on by his pupil in this art, Amanda. You can see how the last donut in Dave's box is standing up just as it was packed; however, Amanda's are all falling down. I wonder if she'll have to finish this box [and some twinkies :)] before Dave makes her try again.

...the mood was festive and the laughter copious as the crumbs of KK's, thus devoured, spilled about. But, when it was realized that they had actually scored a box with a "baker's dozen", the laughter stilled and the competition began. Could Amanda leave Dave, "odd man out?!?!?"...

Dave: "Simple. We have this donut eating contest, which, of course, will be filmed and photographed and will end up for sure in one of Billfred's caption contests, which will distract Billfred long enough for Gary to initiate his devious plot to avenge all of Billfred's caption contest victims."
Amanda: "Dillard's plan?"
Dave: "Well, yeah."

Well, see now Heidi makes me think that Dillard has a plot against me. Therefore, I am empowered to guard against Gary's attacks by simply avoiding the UCF regional. (Although S.P.A.M. has made it to Palmetto both years of its existence, Gary hasn't.)

Unless, of course, Gary Dillard is a codename for someone else...at which point I'll heed that looping voice at Dulles and watch my back! :ahh:

The world is evolving, and now I get the fun job of trying to evolve with it. (For the record, this is the first time I've attempted to judge and score the caption contest on my new iBook. So if you see me over the next week or two, remind me...Apple+Shift+], not Apple+Tab. On second thought, if you see me over the next week or two and aren't on 1293, I'd be surprised.)
