The Jeff Seaton Fan Club

Yes, it's about gosh-darn time for a fan club for the best MC in FIRST! Mabey I'm biased that he MCs my home regional, but my family and I can't find a better MC!

Jeff, you rock my world.

So, who's with me? :p

Never seen him but I'd say Mark Leon is a tough one to top.

Jerry Budd and Dan Green combo...throw in a few Copioli commentated matches and that is an All-Star line up if you ask me!

Now wait a minute. I haven't heard Copioli do announcing/commentating but Don Knight was a very tough act to top. Just phenomenal.

Ask any FIRSTer from the mid-west who they hear on the PA...its Dan Green or Paul "Copioil"

I do have to agree with Kyle here. Dan Green and Paul Copi oil rocked the arena. This past IRI, Clark Gilbert was DJing... he kept it rocking for 2 days.

Being a West Coaster, I have a bias to Mark Leon, who is in my opinion the most energetic person on the face of the planet. I got a chance to see Jeff in action at Nationals, and I will admit he is quite good. Also props to SteveW, my favorite announcer.

As far as my favorites -
The Dan & Paul Show is always top notch. Both of them are amazing.
Also, you can't forget "the voice of FIRST"; Blair Hundertmark. Blair is incredible.

However, I'm definitely a member of the 'Jeff Seaton Fan Club". I got the chance to work with Jeff in Seattle a few years ago. (I was head ref, he was MC). It was a lot of fun.

I had the pleasure to work directly with Blair at Boilermaker this past year. He is really an amazing guy who helped me out a lot.

He and Dan Green rocked BMR this year. Paul and Dan have rocked the IRI for three years now.

I'm with JosephM, I'm a member of Jeff Seaton fan club. But then again, I've got the Richmond Regional bias, though I have nothing against the various MCs at the Philly regional either (Frank Larkin the Jolly Green Giant for one ;) )

Jeff was part of my first FIRST experience, Palmetto in 2004. Of the three emcees I've been around a field with, I'd say he's definitely my favorite.

(As for the play-by-play, that's a tough choice. Dan Green is definitely a great announcer, as is Ron Partridge. But where's the love for Sir Charles?)

Re: The Jeff Seaton Fan Club

I think all MCs are good. You know why? Because that means there is a compeition going on, and if a competition is going on then Robots are being built, and the more robots that are being built the more likely it is that I'm actually building a robot. And if I'm building robots then I'm doing the thing I love. So in a twisted compound way, I love all the MCs. Also they all are trying their best so that gives them all bonus points.

Isn't it interesting that this conversation exists at all?

Back in the day, it was just Woodie. His willilngness to travel everywhere, IMHO, it's the thing that really started his fanatacism as an MC by the general public. Person 1 from the Southeast can really only relate to Person 2 from the Northwest about the awesomeness of a particular MC when they've both seen the same person perform.

Of course, as the competition grows it's natural that discussions like this occur because it's impossible for one MC to be everywhere. But...I really think that the reason why the MCs have a tough time getting anyone from outside their region to recognize them at all - they don't travel. I wish they would!

Being a stickler for FIRST history, I would have to say the best MC of all time...outside of Dr. Flowers was Alternate Woodie Greg Hale!

If I had to choose from the current MC's, Id have to agree on the choice of Mark Leon. He brings so much energy and enthusiasm to the competition, I truely believe it is unmatched.

As for announcers, I have to go with John on this one...Blair is king, always has been, always will be! Ron Partridge is also an excelent announcer, and he makes an excelent MC also.

I'm just repeating what some other people have said. Blair is the best, no one can top him.

Not saying there aren't other great announcers out there because there are some great ones. Paul and Dan are my favorite duo for sure, IRI wouldn't be the same without them.

I can't remember if Jeff was there during 2003, that's when 234 was in Richmond. I just remember that regional being decent all around.
