keep on dreaming big and making crazy things... :) your nerf gun of course is better than those in the stores |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Apparently Tytus has properly armed himself in order to take on the Kool Squad threat that has been plauging the events.
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
I have no clue how that works, but I see pneumatics, so I'm going to say it looks lethal.....
and really cool. |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Those Green Tie Wraps make it look Fierce

Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
copping myself from the picture
I realize it's been a while since I've posted a picture of one of my crazy projects but the fact is that work takes up so much of your time Here i have taken a Nerf Rapid Fire 20 and added pretty basic things like Brass Barrels and a 200PSI air system. Yes a PVC Tank The are alot stronger than you think unless it takes a hard drop or gets hit with something pretty big. Used all off the shelf Brass fittings from home depot and clear 1/4"OD .170"ID tubing i can fire all 20 darts in under a second. and fire about 150 more after that if i still had any darts. I'm now working on the reloading problem. |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Its the googles that make the picture.
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
I have those exact same goggles! (but their chrome) Is that a picture of a mecanum wheel in the background?
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
yya i was designing mecanums about a year ago
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
That thing looks AWESOME. 20 darts a second. How many fps?
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
That's flippin sweet....
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Awesome!!
I would add a bullet proof vest to go with those googles though. |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
That is definitely on my Christmas list! :p

:yikes: :yikes: :yikes:
Uhhh... what exactly do you plan to do with that thing??? |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Ty, I know what you mean with the PVC. I asked a few people and they said it was too dangerous to use (in my application at 210 PSI). But, it works fine, and i've not had a problem yet.
These are mocking-up and testing pictures (note the duct tape!) CAFIS - Compressed Air Forced Induction System (patent pending) ![]() ![]() |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Why do I have this sneaking suspicion that he's going to have way too much fun with this at the next FL regional?
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Reloading problem eh??
Not a problem anymore. Step 1. Buy many darts. Step 2: Use a tube shaped material of some sort attached to a plate and array the tubes around it for as many darts as you have in one refill and in the same radius as the dart holder array on the gun. Step 3: Place darts in the tubes suction cup face down and then use them as easy reload clips when you run out. It's kind of hard to explain but I hope you understood that. Have fun. |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Tytus if we ever meet you will have to fight me! Except i plan on similarly equiping this!
![]() (or possibly a Nerf WildFire) |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
I think we now have someone to put the Kool Squad out of business.
|
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Who said i would buy darts. especially ones with suction cups
Nerf modding is actually not that new. there are web sires and technical articles written about specific Nerf products and how to juice them up. in most cases it's just stretching the spring. http://www.answers.com/topic/nerf http://nerfhaven.com/ half the darts in that gun are Stefan darts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Darts witch i make out of 1/2" backer rod hot glue and air soft pellets. Being a mentor, I have to say, wearing safety goggles is a must with an awesomely cool gun like that. I mean, seriously, 200 psi and a fire rate of better than 20 shots per second! You'd be nuts not to wear them. Besides, those goggles lend that "Mad Scientist" look. :yikes: (You haven't quite reached Einstein level yet, but your getting there.) I love it! I call what you have "The Tim Allen syndrome". More horse power!!!!! Keep up the great work! |

Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
That's some wicked stuff right there. I've always wanted to have a giant Nerf gun fight, like in an obstacle course type setting with teams and everything. Primary Nerf weapons, secondary ones, oh man, that'd be awesome. I want Tytus on my team.

Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
I have a video i took if anyone wants to host it somewhere i can put it up here.

Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
Wow that stuff is awesome i've always wanted to do that, along with adding it to a first mobile chasis, kinda goes along with my fantasy of starting a paintball warfare with just robots lol.
Careful with those pvc pipes I believe most pvc glues are only rated to 180psi, and I've had semi-catastrophic blow outs at only about 85 psi, I've since reaplied the glue and its never happend again, but i know that at 85 psi it was a pretty decent size explosion/release of pressure, wouldn't want that thing around my face at 210 psi lol. |

i am so building that, I've already made a list of materials i need and I'll be going to home depot Thursday. If you start getting shot at SPBLI you know who it is :D |
Re: pic: Tytus's Nerf Mod
HOLY CRAP!
I know what for I want for Christmas...:D BTW: On a vaguely related note. Anyone ever built their own tricked out water gun? I mean the one's they sell in stores are mostly asthetic and they've tuned down the power a bit so they don't get sued... So anyone ever tried to build one of those? |
