Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

I am a relatively new Firefox user, I was wanting to know which extensions are worth getting?

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

Well, I no longer use Firefox (Safari just seems to work better with my iBook), but I definitely was a big fan of Adblock. If you don't have any other RSS reader, you may want to get Sage as well. Everything else is simply a matter of seasoning to taste.

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

-google sms messanger: text message a phone from your computer, free for you, cheap for them
-Tabbed Browser Extension: Tabbed Browsing > My socks
-Weather Fox is pretty cool, i like looking at the radar
-Add more search engines too! (don't forget the CD search engines by Dave Scheck, get them by going Quick Links in the User Bar->Extras. I also reconmend the Wikipedia Search engines if you don't have it already

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

I liked FootieFox [soccer for the yanks], but it wasn't very helpful, as the games I wanted were having some issues being selected... good concept though if you have no way of watching or listening to radio streams for matches

Other good ones:
-- Download Manager Tweak - mods the appearance of the download manager
-- PDF Download - allows you to select options about what to do with PDFs
-- ReloadEvery - Good for refreshing websites over intervals (i.e. you MUST find out about when the reg dates are, and are OCD about being first with the information; I orignally used it to get the Battlefield 2 Demo)

I love the adblock i use it to disable the reputation bar (i think it doesnt speak fairly for good or bad for people) on CD. Does anyone know how to remove extensions?

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

I have overdone it with the extensions in the past.

At one point or another, I have had
-Adblock
-Gmail Notifier
-Adsense Notifier
-Foxytunes (note that all four of these in the status bar actually cut away part of the status bar :-D)
-The IRC extension (can't remember name)
-BlogThis rightclick option

At the moment, I'm not running any extensions, however I did install a cool new theme, Noia 2.0. For those of you who don't know, the url for all of these is addons.mozilla.org.

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

Well, there is this thread, but...

I currently have (on this computer, my other computer is different because of different needs):
  • Google suggest (Turns the google search bar up in the corner into Google suggest, so it suggests stuff. :))
  • Gmail notifier
  • Web developer
  • HTML Validator

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

Right now I have...

Adblock
Tabbrowser preferences
Stumbleupon - suggests pages for you in categories that other people have rated. Great when you're bored and want to find good stuff on the net.
IE View - adds "view this in Internet Explorer" onto the box that pops up when you right-click a link. Clicking on the function will automatically open an IE browser with the link already in the address bar. Great for sites that just don't look right in Firefox and saves you the hassle of copying/opening IE/pasting.

In the past I've also had foxytunes and the weather thing. Both were ok, but seemed to be too much trouble for what they were worth (especially foxytunes). I did enjoy having the weather in somewhere other than my tray, though :)

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

At the moment, I like the extensions that add greater capability of Firefox, like
  • Iget (downloads any file given the URL)
  • ColorZilla (Advanced Eyedropper, Page Zooming, Colorpicker, etc tool)
  • Firefox View (Loads pages from IE into Firefox)
  • IEView (Loads pages from Firefox into IE)
  • ImageZoom (Zooms in on images)
  • Show Image (Similar to the IE feature if an image doesn't load)
  • CountdownClock Extension (this one will create a countdown clock in the status bar, which I usually use to countdown to FIRST events)
  • PrintPreview (makes a nice print preview feature)
And of course I also use Adblock and the CD search extensions (thanks Dave Scheck) :)

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

My favorites:
All-In-One Sidebar (awesome if you've used Opera)
Customize Google (let's you change the layout of Google results)
DictionarySearch
fireFTP (FTP program built into Firefox)
Forecastfox
IE View (perfect for those websites that don't work with Firefox)
Paste and Go (paste an address and go to it with one click)
PDF Download (allows you to view a pdf in html or download)
Tab Mix (tabbed preferences)

Just out of curiousity, why do so many people like this extension? You can just click the save button from within Acrobat...

Oh, wait, while writing this post, I did think of the fact you don't have to wait from Acrobat to load. Is that the only reason?

Solved a problem in PDF to HTML conversion.

Personally i like keeping my pdf's on its own tab so i don't actualy have to switch from my browser (i even have the media extension so i can play music through my browser.)

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

Get Stumble Upon. It's wierd it's cool. And I discovered so many cool websites that I would have never thought to look for otherwise. The one I've wasted the most time on so far is gizmag.com (just try to spend under 4 hours there :)

Lets see the other extensions I have are...

ForcastFox
Google Preview - gives me a pic of websites before I load them
Bugmenot - Form filler for sites requiring information. Really handy.
GoogleToolbar - Haven't used it as much as I thought I would. The un-official one is better

Enjoy Firefox!

Now that I have plenty of Extensions...I'm looking for an awesome theme. So far, I really like the Abstract PC 0.9.7.7. Which ones do all of you have?

Default, in my opinion none of the others are as professional looking.

  • Add N Edit Cookies (Big help when I was developing my new login system)
  • Colorzilla (Adds a photoshop-esque dropper tool to read color values)
  • Web Developer Toolbar
  • Fangs Screen Reader Emulator (Good for developing screen reader friendly sites)

  • gTranslate (For easy translating of text)

Theme was Plastikfox Crystal SVG, but I just found out that there's a version-compatible version of Smoke out. That's my favorite theme ever ^^

LittleFox. Takes up a heck of a lot less room. :)

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

I just thought of something I would like to know. Is there an extension where I can get the different times of the timezones. Similar to something on like CNN or one of the news channels?

Bookmarks Home is a great plugin. You can design your own home page that displays your bookmarks and search engine searches.

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

I have a quit large collection of extensions lemme open up my extension folder to see what ones I have.
All in one Gestures- The best of the best extensions
I must not fear-unnecessary but cool
deepest sender-you have been warned it does not accept html
el jay icon maker-make a LJ out of a pic quickly
text marker- highlight text in up to 3 colors
customize google-remove adds and spam
gas buddy query-above^
gmail notifier-very helpful fits right in the tool bar and status bar
forcast fox-very nice pictoral of todays weather can have profiles for different locations such as work and home
Target aleart- I got this one from attack of the show but it puts a little pic next to links telling what they go to such as a mail to or new window
foxy tunes-great for listining and not opening up media player (or others)
But all in one gestures is worth every penny (if it were really xpensive) just for the forward and backward function!!

Re: Firefox extensions: Which do you have?

Web Developer and a large collection of my own and other developer's bookmarklets are all I use for work. I use Farky/Farkit for downtime at work. No theme.. Firefox is ugly enough as it is :)
