Tough one to call... Newton semifinals when 67 got hooked up in 71. The way they just slowly and steadily dragged everything was just amazing. The last two matches were also intense. Even though we lost the second round of the finals after 71 got turned about, we almost managed to pull it off (and then SPAM took us for a ride that made my stomache drop through the stage floor). The last match was... awesome (enough said).

71 vs. 60
The best match was definatley the (i think its the first match) of 71 vs 60 where 71 dragged everyone across the field from the opposing teams side to our own endzone. I'm not sure if everyone knew this part though. Only 1 of 71's 'feet' were toughing the carpet. They pulled everyone using 1 tread. That shows you how powerful they really were.
On a nonrelated subject - ball bots can beat goal bots, as demonstrated in the last match of the finals. Thanks 66, and 71 without you guys nothing would have been done. |

mine would be the match when team 384 (maybe i might be wrong) fell over and the awesome little black robot (also known as the evil microwave) pushed it through 3 zones back into its own zone. oh yeah, that was my robot, we also won play of the day from team 60 for it. :)

121 vs 22
My favorite match is when we were up against team 22.
Even though the match itself was preaty standard, it came out with an unexpected result of 198 QP points. |
I have to say the 2nd match of the Championship finals when us and 180 took on the blue alliance was just insane. SPAM really crushed the beast. I have to say that team 71 had one of the most unique out outright awesome designs out of anybody there. I couldn't believe my eyes when SPAM disabled them, even with the power that they pack. And 76 points!? I couldn't believe my eyes!
Team 308 and 180 - You guys were awesome, we wouldn't have made it past the Einstein Division Quarter or Semifinals if it weren't for you guys. You came in the clutch in those situations. There was real teamwork out there throughout the division and championship finals. Thanks for making the Nationals that much more of a memorable event. To the champs - Even though we lost, I still havta say that that was the most amazing set of three matches I played in. You all had awesome robots and great drivers/players. Awesome job. Peace... -Controller for the Red Jammers |
Best Matches
Wouldn't it be great if someone were to make a video of all of these matches, I know that I would pay to get one (Hmmmm, maybe this would be a good fund raiser for some entrepenural (sp ?) team).

Hey Tim!
I agree that the Match with SPAM against the Beast was amazing. Ona personal note my best match(es) were the Einstein quarter finals when we were up against 190 from WPI and their Spider Goat. A truly unique machine, I LOVE your transmissions. (as a matter of fact they may be a bit rusty after I drooled on them when you were showing them to me) Anyway, I found it difficult to control my emotions during these matches as I couldn't decide who to root for. I did finally come to my senses when it was all over and the RedJammers continued their march to the National Finals. Wow, what a weekend! Tim, Josh and John. You guys really performed well under pressure. Great Job! |
Nationals' Final, 2nd match
I am a team 71 fan. Those guys build the best robots, really unique robots. They deserve being national champions twice in a row as they are. But my favorite match was when other team (SPAM, I think) managed to turn them around in the finals.

I am going to have to be the different one and say that my favorite match was match 2 of the finals...why? because up until that match no one realized that if they push us out of the zone within the last seconds, we won't be able to make it back in time (if we are pushed from the back, we push back using our front wheels, which are nothing more than some timing belt wrapped over some polycarb wheels and the only way to remedy the situation is to spin ourselves on their push and then pull forward). It was done to us in the newton division, but they did it too early in the match. I was another one of those drivers saying "5 more seconds, please!!" but after match 2 of the finals 180 got my full respect.

einstein semi-finals #1
I agree with Wetzel, the semi-finals of Einstein were the most exciting, but I'm probably biased because I obviously have an emotional attachment to that series. The first match wasn't very exciting because not much happened, Juggy shut TRW down pretty well. The first 90 seconds of the 2nd match are my all time favorite and the next 30 were exciting but painful to watch. We had the match won until SPAM lifted us off the ground and pushed our goal full of balls into their zone to win the match (all of the 'what ifs' still haunt me). The last match was a back & forth struggle to get out of the trap set by 180 & 308. We finally broke free, got some balls in the goal, then 16 struggled to break free and run to the endzone. When time ran out we were 2 balls and 2 inches short of winning.
That series was full of non-stop back and forth action. It was dynamic, just like the game was designed to be played. Mike |
