i agree...im a mighigan fan too but yeah i think they wont do so hot this year.
the notre dame/michigan was a good one today. i think notre dame will get far this year (even though 3/4 of the fans are Cubs fans)...Brady Quinn is a really good qb

Re: Big 10 Confrence

Call me biased, but I said Michigan.

We've had a more than slow start and it's shown in the past two games. Hart has always been our strong point - so when he got hurt in today's game versus Notre Dame, more of the weight was on Henne and Avant, who happened to be having one of the most off games I've ever seen either of them play.

Michigan had more passing yards, I think we should have utilized our running backs a bit more. Grady and Martin do amazing things when put to task. I'd be surprised if I didn't see the number of running yards increase by next game.

On the topic of offense, our blockers were equally great.

As for defense, they definitely improved since last week, plenty of good coverage. Now all they need to learn is how to take advantage of opportunities to intercept. There were many times where I was sitting in the Big House, watching a long pass and being like, "OH! Dude, I think he's gonna intercept it... ... ... Okay, maybe not..." to the person next to me. But that's something that can be fixed, as well.

I say the next game will truly be a determining factor in how the rest of the season is played out. Michigan football is known for figuring things out quickly, I have complete faith in the Wolverines. Lloyd Carr knows what he's doing (even though, I have to admit, I had my moments when I was yelling at him to put Gutierrez in :p).

Personally, I think the off-ness was really due to Henne, Breaston, and Avant, three of our key players, being off. They had great dynamics last week, but everyone has their off games, guess this was it for them. Either that, or losing Hart on the offense in the first quarter skewed their plays in some weird and completely random way. It happens.

And nope, we have Lloyd Carr still. Amazing guy, we would have never made it to the Rose Bowl as much as we have without him.

Yee-haw Court! Brady Quinn is a fantastic QB. And if I get accepted this year, he'll still be there next year and he will rock some more. Anyone that gets personal instruction from Joe Montana....oh man...they're good.
I also appreciate the fact that they have a strategy for offense this year.

Yay for being Independent :)

I s'pose if we must chose a Big 10 School, I've got to go with WI. Yes, they have been pummeling some rather bad football teams, but at least they aren't beating themselves this year. That's a start...

Re: Big 10 Confrence

MSU has always had a chance, and I'm pretty sure they have an even better one to goto the top this year. The UoM however is pretty much done for the season. I had to work concessions for today's game vs Notre Dame, and from what I saw, the crowd was not pleased. Every time UM screwed up with the ball in hand in the late game, 10K fans walked out and headed for their cars. Not kidding.

UM seemed to be doing the same things last week, the only thing was that they were playing a MAC team. So the game was decided well before the players took the field.

Of the list, Ohio state and UM are maybe's. MSU is better however and they get my vote.

Let's Go P-S-U!

UM didn't help themselves, but the officials lost the game for them. On Henne's first sneak on the goal-line (before he fumbled) he was clearly in for the score, but they didn't call it. If they get that score, it's a tied game with 3:00 left and UM doesn't even have to convert on 4th down.

At any rate, seeing as Iowa came out really flat today, I don't see any way not to pick Purdue. They get to miss OSU AND UM. That's one hell of a break.

OSU looks better than Michigan this year with those recivers. They need to settle on one quarterback though. That two headed quarterback nonsense won't work. Once they get that settled there won't be any stopping them.

The domers aren't part of a conference, although they should be forced to join one. They get all the benefits of being in a conference (BCS implications), without actually having to be in a conference, which shouldn't happen.

Last year they were telling teams that if they wanted to be added onto ND's schedule, they'd have to play at ND, giving them 7 home games (iirc). They're long off their glory days, but apparently they don't think so.

After Saturday's game, I think U of M is warmed up for the remainder of the season (Finally! Geez). Although I wasn't at this one, from what I've heard Henne's got it together and as long as he doesn't let any of the wins get to his head, we'll be good to go. Hopefully Hart will be back soon, but I think the team has learned to adjust quite smoothly. Not to add that defense has improved a bit...

Re: Big 10 Confrence

Horrible. From being "in total control of the game", according to one of the commentators at halftime, to losing pretty much all control (defense giving up way too many yards, blockers not giving Henne enough time to throw), I really don't know what to say after that Michigan-Wisconsin game.

I said before that the third or fourth game in would determine how the rest of the season played out, and after yesterday's loss, I think the Wolverines have dug themselves a hole that'll be pretty hard to get out of. I've never screamed so much at the TV...

I feel like a bad Wolverine saying this the week before the Michigan-MSU game, but I'll have to agree with Stevie that MSU definitely has a chance to win the Big 10 now. With Stanton breaking a school record yesterday, he and the rest of the offense are on fire and nothing's putting that flame out.

And with that I say, "Hello, Wolverine hockey!"

:(

This weekend is in great anticipation here in Happy Valley. "Camp Nittany" has been set up outside of Gate A at Beaver Stadium since Sunday Evening, and now contains well over 40 tents. This morning, reserved-seat tickets began at 8:30. However, individuals were also camped out at the Bryce Jordan Center in that line in anticipation since Tuesday afternoon. My roommate waited since 6 am this morning, and received the third from the last row (87 ish) for our block of 20+ group.

Friday night kicks of "Rally in the Valley" just after the arrival of ESPN's College Game Day at 5pm. Either later that night, during the night, or first thing (6am) Saturday morning we will be going via caravan (5/6 vehicles) to our tailgating spot. We'll pitch a tent, throw up at least two "sun tents", a couple of grills, and be well planted until we leave for the 7:45 pm game.

Good Luck to everyone else this weekend!

Yup, same thing for basketball and hockey season tickets. Except for those you wait in line and get the same tickets for all year, which is a little better. This year we got 2 days notice that we got the tickets and that distribution was starting. We lub the athletic department. At least they did it earlier in the fall this year.

Yes, as students you may purchase season "vouchers" during the prior spring semester. Those "vouchers" can then be validated Wednesdays prior to home games for reserved group seating in rows 26-90 of your respective section (FR, SO, JR, SR, GR). However, if you choose to not validate your "voucher" you may wait in line for rows 1-25 Saturday morning prior to the gate opening. However, once they reach row 25, you will be in row 91+ (upper deck).

Cold Pizza (ESPN) was great this morning, the set was packed with students, and the HUB was packed with students.

Hey id say that texas tech is one of the better teams out there and we only lost by like 6 points. Yeah the nebraska loss was bad im not going to disagree on that one...i dont know what happened the last like 30 seconds but we are 4-1 and what, purdue is like 2-3. who are they playing that is so difficult other than Notre Dame?

it was 34-31 TT.

Nebraska had the game won when one of it's Dlinemen picked off TT with like 1:20 left.

Instead of getting his 300 lb self onto the ground, he decided he wanted to take it 85 yards to the house.

and promptly fumbled the ball back to TT, who then scored a TD for the win.

yeah that is true though...made me really really furious when they fumbled it back to TT which turned everythign around and because him we lost the game. they had alot of idiotic plays. nebraskas safeties should have also been playing 5 yards back because TT kept throwing deep passes. ugh football grr haha

So, I went to Hooters with one of my roommates today to watch the game. I've never been in a building with so many people, screaming, with loud TV's, etc, etc. It became very intense at times. When PSU made their first touchdown, then intercepted and returned for the second, the Hooters girls had everyone up doing "If you're happy and you know it: 1. clap your hands 2. say Hooters 3. say Penn State". All in all it was a very disheartening game. With only one second left, I have only been more heartbroken once in my lifetime, and that was in Houston. Let's hope we don't fall to far in the rankings.

The sadness in Happy Valley is so great you can hear the peepers on College Ave.

I'd love nothing more than seeing the 'domers go 0-12 every year.

God and 80,000 people want it this way: Notre Dame has beaten No. 1 a record eight times in its history, and there's a reason for that. From Touchdown Jesus on down, the entire storied program seems to rise to these occasions -- with a serious home-field advantage to go with it. No offense to Oregon or Arizona State, but this will be the toughest road atmosphere USC has seen.
Go Irish!

edit: ...and if you watched the full game, ND did actually win by the first calling of the refs. It was only after the students had stormed the field that the refs reconvened and decided to give USC 7 seconds and another chance. :(

Amazing win by the Wolverines yesterday, eh?

We really don't have the consistency to win the Big 10. Rivas' record in kicking isn't that great when it really matters, and Henne doesn't have Edwards to back him up when he throws an off pass anymore. HOWEVER, it was great to see some redemption, especially that kind of 1-second-left oh-my-gosh-what-is-going-to-happen redemption.

I predict Manningham to become even more of a leader on the team as the season progresses.

GO BLUE! :)

And Pat Forde is an idiot. I can't believe he actually wrote that god wants ND to win (exactly the attitude that makes me hate the Irish so much). God has better things to do than chill over South Bend, Indiana each Saturday and root for the domers. His inbox is going to be full of hate mail, because quite honestly, that statement is pretty offensive to a large group of people.

They didn't "decide" to give USC a second chance, the rules of football gave SC a second chance. There was no kind of subjective judgement used in that second to last play (Other than when they had to spot the ball)

And if you want to get down to it, SC never should have been down 3 with time expiring. Earlier in the game, Samardzija caught a ball for a 3rd down conversion on the sidelines. But the thing was, he didn't catch it. After seeing the replay, he was clearly OOB. Had they had instant replay, ND punts the ball, and doesn't go on to score.

Just back from Minneapolis, amazing comeback win by the Badgers. It was glorious to parade around MN in our Red and chant down all the Gopher fans. 30,000+ Badger fans at a MN home game, plain awesome.

ON WISCONSIN!

Getting ready to Boiler Down this weekend in Madison for homecoming.
