Big 10 Confrence
Who will dominate the Big 10 Confrence? :D
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Ok if you pick michigan you lose hahaha im a michigan fan but they wont dominate haha. state will do it 'cuz they are so awesome. but THE ohio state is awesome too. but hopefully they will lose tonite.
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
i agree...im a mighigan fan too but yeah i think they wont do so hot this year.
the notre dame/michigan was a good one today. i think notre dame will get far this year (even though 3/4 of the fans are Cubs fans)...Brady Quinn is a really good qb |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Call me biased, but I said Michigan.
We've had a more than slow start and it's shown in the past two games. Hart has always been our strong point - so when he got hurt in today's game versus Notre Dame, more of the weight was on Henne and Avant, who happened to be having one of the most off games I've ever seen either of them play. Michigan had more passing yards, I think we should have utilized our running backs a bit more. Grady and Martin do amazing things when put to task. I'd be surprised if I didn't see the number of running yards increase by next game. On the topic of offense, our blockers were equally great. As for defense, they definitely improved since last week, plenty of good coverage. Now all they need to learn is how to take advantage of opportunities to intercept. There were many times where I was sitting in the Big House, watching a long pass and being like, "OH! Dude, I think he's gonna intercept it... ... ... Okay, maybe not..." to the person next to me. But that's something that can be fixed, as well. I say the next game will truly be a determining factor in how the rest of the season is played out. Michigan football is known for figuring things out quickly, I have complete faith in the Wolverines. Lloyd Carr knows what he's doing (even though, I have to admit, I had my moments when I was yelling at him to put Gutierrez in :p). |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
I hate Notre Dame.
If you dont understand what i mean by that(i know they arent in this conference)..then ugh. MICHIGAN |

I also appreciate the fact that they have a strategy for offense this year. Yay for being Independent :) I s'pose if we must chose a Big 10 School, I've got to go with WI. Yes, they have been pummeling some rather bad football teams, but at least they aren't beating themselves this year. That's a start... |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
I have a feeling its gonna come down to Ohio State vs. Michigan once again this year. After the tough game today I don't think Michigan loses again, plus I cant stand the buckeyes. Go Blue!
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
i think it will either be Michigan state vs. Ohio state or Purdue vs. Ohio state. those are my predictions.
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
MSU has always had a chance, and I'm pretty sure they have an even better one to goto the top this year. The UoM however is pretty much done for the season. I had to work concessions for today's game vs Notre Dame, and from what I saw, the crowd was not pleased. Every time UM screwed up with the ball in hand in the late game, 10K fans walked out and headed for their cars. Not kidding.
UM seemed to be doing the same things last week, the only thing was that they were playing a MAC team. So the game was decided well before the players took the field. Of the list, Ohio state and UM are maybe's. MSU is better however and they get my vote. -Joe PS: UM plays EMU next week. GO EAGLES!!! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Penn State all the way baby!!! Wooohooo! It's just gotta be our year again sooner or later. With Mills gone, a new line up in line, a hometown boy Kilmer seeing lots of play time - I say it's my year to follow the Nittany Lion all the way to a bowl game!
Let's Go P-S-U! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
There is no doubt in my mind that it will be Ohio State. They are going to control the Big 10. They just appear so dominant.

At any rate, seeing as Iowa came out really flat today, I don't see any way not to pick Purdue. They get to miss OSU AND UM. That's one hell of a break. |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
You know it'll be OSU...
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
i didn't mean they will actually play them. I think it will be Purdue or OSU fighting for the championship. There is no championship game for the big 10.
and now that OSU lost last night i think MSU will have a better chance now because they will move up in the standings. |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
OSU looks better than Michigan this year with those recivers. They need to settle on one quarterback though. That two headed quarterback nonsense won't work. Once they get that settled there won't be any stopping them.
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Just out of curiosity, is this poll rigged? I swear, I voted for Wisconsin last night and no votes have turned up for it yet. It hasn't even been tabulated, and yet, when I hit back on my browser to make sure that I had voted for WI (which I had) I was not allowed to vote again.
Anyone else having this problem? |

PENN STATE!
I don't have anything much to do with sports, FIRST is my sport, but GO Penn State only because I go to PSU! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Wow....that was planned.
I think Purdue will come out on top of the Big Ten. Come on, look how easy our schedule is. |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?" "Owen." "Owen who?" "Oh-and-three for the Big Ten's top teams on Saturday." |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
All I know is Indiana has no chance...they suck...again. Purdue and Notre Dame both have good shots at winning...but watch out for Michigan.

On the banks of the Red Cedar
There's a school that's known to all Their specialty is winning And those Spartans play good ball Spartan teams are never beaten All through the games they fight Fight for the only colors Green and White Go right through for MSU Watch the points keep growing Spartan teams are bound to win They're fighting with a vim RAH! RAH! RAH! See their team is weakening We're going to win this game FIGHT! FIGHT! RAH TEAM FIGHT! Victory for MSU! Yup, we beat Hawaii, now we've beat Notre Dame, MSU all the way baby! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
After Saturday's game, I think U of M is warmed up for the remainder of the season (Finally! Geez). Although I wasn't at this one, from what I've heard Henne's got it together and as long as he doesn't let any of the wins get to his head, we'll be good to go. Hopefully Hart will be back soon, but I think the team has learned to adjust quite smoothly. Not to add that defense has improved a bit...
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Purdue University and Indiana University have a combined record of 5-0. The rest of the Big Ten needs to bow down to the dominance that is football in the state of Indiana.

Re: Big 10 Confrence
Michigan and Michigan state and Michigan tech(d2 gliac) and Saginaw valley state(d2 gliac) and grand valley state(d2 gliac) have a combined record of 14-1. All Michigan schools.

|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Yeah that was bad. I have lost all respect for Michigan. They should pull Henne and put Gutierrez in. That last play where he fell, that was just soooooo bad. Michigan State all the way now baby!!!!!
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Horrible. From being "in total control of the game", according to one of the commentators at halftime, to losing pretty much all control (defense giving up way too many yards, blockers not giving Henne enough time to throw), I really don't know what to say after that Michigan-Wisconsin game.
I said before that the third or fourth game in would determine how the rest of the season played out, and after yesterday's loss, I think the Wolverines have dug themselves a hole that'll be pretty hard to get out of. I've never screamed so much at the TV... I feel like a bad Wolverine saying this the week before the Michigan-MSU game, but I'll have to agree with Stevie that MSU definitely has a chance to win the Big 10 now. With Stanton breaking a school record yesterday, he and the rest of the offense are on fire and nothing's putting that flame out. And with that I say, "Hello, Wolverine hockey!" :( |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Go Penn State! hey we have to get some respect for going 4-0 first in a long time..... and well netime you comeback from a first half were you are 20 points down and gave up three turnovers to win your doing something right.
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Oh yeah...what happened to Purdue? I thought they were all big and bad haha. It was an awesome game though I have to say that. i enjoyed watching Purdue and Minnesota play. Good game.

I shall remain the faithful U of M fan that I am...
and say... Michigan beat Michigan State :) They don't suck as bad as they could suck... Go Blue! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
This weekend is in great anticipation here in Happy Valley. "Camp Nittany" has been set up outside of Gate A at Beaver Stadium since Sunday Evening, and now contains well over 40 tents. This morning, reserved-seat tickets began at 8:30. However, individuals were also camped out at the Bryce Jordan Center in that line in anticipation since Tuesday afternoon. My roommate waited since 6 am this morning, and received the third from the last row (87 ish) for our block of 20+ group.
Friday night kicks of "Rally in the Valley" just after the arrival of ESPN's College Game Day at 5pm. Either later that night, during the night, or first thing (6am) Saturday morning we will be going via caravan (5/6 vehicles) to our tailgating spot. We'll pitch a tent, throw up at least two "sun tents", a couple of grills, and be well planted until we leave for the 7:45 pm game. Good Luck to everyone else this weekend! |

I'm not sure how it is at Penn State, but at Wisconsin students have season tickets and exchange the 'vouchers' for actual tickets on GameDay. So you have to wait in line if you want the best seats.

Yes, as students you may purchase season "vouchers" during the prior spring semester. Those "vouchers" can then be validated Wednesdays prior to home games for reserved group seating in rows 26-90 of your respective section (FR, SO, JR, SR, GR). However, if you choose to not validate your "voucher" you may wait in line for rows 1-25 Saturday morning prior to the gate opening. However, once they reach row 25, you will be in row 91+ (upper deck). Cold Pizza (ESPN) was great this morning, the set was packed with students, and the HUB was packed with students. |

17-10 PSU BABY!!! (6) Ohio State goes down to (16) Penn State as the fab 4 of lightning freshman with Michael Robinson at the trigger powers through the (arguably)#1 LB set in the country. The defensive guns were shown with the Penn State's Iron curtain coming out strong. I love my Lions!!! PSU 6-0!!! Undefeated in and out of the Big 10 Conference! |

PSU is pretty good this year. I am impressed. |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
What a game! Cold Pizza ESPN Friday morning was amazing. Paternoville/Camp Nittany with people camping out for 6 days for prime seating unbelievable. Friday night, PSU was announced the #1 Tailgating location in the nation at Rally in the Valley. The weather was cold, rainy, and miserable... however, we were up bright and early for an amazing spot on College Game Day ESPN. PSU was announced the #1 fan/student section today. A LONG day of tailgating, followed by an amazing game, and if you only knew the things that happened afterwords that didn't make national television. The rushing of the field in Beaver Stadium!
... can't hardly wait for tomorrow's rankings! |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Hats off to Penn State. Hopefully Wisconsin can rebound, we need some defense.
|
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Hey Hey Heyyyyyyy Goodbye Purdue :yikes: What happened with the Iowa game this past weekend??? Dont worry maybe you guys will get back in the Top 25 after that dramitic fall in the rankings the past like 6 weeks. teehee :D

Nebraska had the game won when one of it's Dlinemen picked off TT with like 1:20 left. Instead of getting his 300 lb self onto the ground, he decided he wanted to take it 85 yards to the house. and promptly fumbled the ball back to TT, who then scored a TD for the win. |

Re: Big 10 Confrence
So, I went to Hooters with one of my roommates today to watch the game. I've never been in a building with so many people, screaming, with loud TV's, etc, etc. It became very intense at times. When PSU made their first touchdown, then intercepted and returned for the second, the Hooters girls had everyone up doing "If you're happy and you know it: 1. clap your hands 2. say Hooters 3. say Penn State". All in all it was a very disheartening game. With only one second left, I have only been more heartbroken once in my lifetime, and that was in Houston. Let's hope we don't fall to far in the rankings.
The sadness in Happy Valley is so great you can hear the peepers on College Ave. |
Re: Big 10 Confrence
Ok, I have now officially lost ALL faith in the Boilermakers for this season...GO NOTRE DAME!!!! Yup, you guessed it right I like both teams...that's hard to find in Indiana.

Re: Big 10 Confrence
Amazing win by the Wolverines yesterday, eh?
We really don't have the consistency to win the Big 10. Rivas' record in kicking isn't that great when it really matters, and Henne doesn't have Edwards to back him up when he throws an off pass anymore. HOWEVER, it was great to see some redemption, especially that kind of 1-second-left oh-my-gosh-what-is-going-to-happen redemption. I predict Manningham to become even more of a leader on the team as the season progresses. GO BLUE! :) |
Re: Big 10 Confrence

They didn't "decide" to give USC a second chance, the rules of football gave SC a second chance. There was no kind of subjective judgement used in that second to last play (Other than when they had to spot the ball) And if you want to get down to it, SC never should have been down 3 with time expiring. Earlier in the game, Samardzija caught a ball for a 3rd down conversion on the sidelines. But the thing was, he didn't catch it. After seeing the replay, he was clearly OOB. Had they had instant replay, ND punts the ball, and doesn't go on to score. |
