Pits and bot displays

What did everyone think of the displays that was in the pits? Who was your favorite? Any ones you specifically remember? Any that annoyed you? What did your team do to get their information out?

-Ours was a big thing of PVC with a new IMAC in it that looped a video presentation as well as our animation. It also had C.A.D. Drawings, strageties, ideas, more info, etc on the outside.... Anyone remember it? I thought the music i had put on the presentation was annoying after the 800th time it looped, but *shrug*... The only things i was jealous of was the team with the like... 2 subwoofers, tweeters, and mids in their pit to play music... it was so schweet...

Yeah, that team was right by us. I wish I had one of those bots, I would take it everywhere.

one of my off-season projects is to build a power-assisted dolly for the robot and tools.

if i was to build a dolly like that, would a gas engine be allowed? something along the lines of go-cart or lawn mower is what i would use, if i could. otherwise, i just need to find some motors in our back room, and some money for a few batteries. :D

I don't think that they'd let ya use gas... fumes and such.. plus its loud..? That'd be super cool... i liked the little electric cart puller thingy i saw...

Hey Quain...

You should have been at VCU when that little yellow cart caught on fire and they had to rip the kid out by his shoulders. We could smell burning motors from 200 feet away.

I really liked GRT's interactive video thing, and Thunder Chicken's Crazy Chicken Transmission display. 45 and 47 had nice extrusion pit-areas, too. Overhead fan mounted in the pit area? *GOOD IDEA* ;)

Wow that sucks... probably embarassing too.. to build something then have it burst into flames..

I saw the fan in the pit.. that was a %%%% good idea... but since there was A/C... they didn't need it that much... thank god for that A/C...

Bosch Charleston Team 342

Team 342 - Bosch Charleston had a great attention getter - other than their marvelous machine of course. It was a large robot similar to the one seen in the series "Lost in Space." Kodak will make a fortune off of the processing of pictures from team members, friends, family, guests and officials who had to have their picture made with it. I hope they are able to bring it back next year.

OK, Team 48 guy here....

Jon, if one of the "extrusion pit-areas" you are referring to was the extruded aluminum pit wall with the red LED display and the "Delphi" banner above it, that was 48's pit area, not 47's. It's easy enough to make that mistake, as 45, 47, and 48 were all next to each other in Florida.

The TechnoKats did have an impressive pit area, though. How come we didn't see that in Cleveland? :-)

Cleveland/Chicago

I think the reason we didnt have it in Cleveland was either because it wasnt made yet.......(made it at Delphi)

We did have it in Chicago though....but the one at Nationals was WAY better......better banners and projector screen....
