We were wondering if it would be leagal to fit a shaft and/or find a way to replace the existing sproket with a larger or smaller sproket into the drive of the dewalt motors in order to have the freedom of choosing our drive sproket?

(NOT OFFICIAL) i dont know the official answer but i personally like the tiny sprocket. lightweight. just change the driven sprocket to a differetn size to change ratios. and the 3 speeds on the dewalt tranny itself is pretty useful too. You may NOT change the sprocket on the Dewalt motor. Changing this sprocket will make your robot illegal and it will not pass inspection and will not compete. I say this because the other sprockets that are legal would take machining to get the job done. Precision machining is not allowed.

If you were to adapt some type of shaft to the output that would also likley require precision machining.

Like said earlier you can change the size of the driven or make a "Jack Shaft" arrangement. This is where you have another axel with sprockets to increase or decrease the ratio.

If you are in this situation I suggest that you re - look at your design. You may have other choices.

You may NOT replace the sprocket on the Dewalt drill motor.

Reminder, you may only use the sprockets specified in the kit of parts. You cannot use any other brand, style or sprocket sizes other than what is provided (specified). You may trade with other teams or purchase from OCCRA additional. However, there is a MAX of 18 sprockets, including the sprockets located on the Dewalt drill motors.
