This is one of the longest days...

I got in, but the event registration wasn't enabled, so there's nothing to click on to register yet (12:30pm)

12:55 -- I'm in again but still there's no button to register for any events.

Latest Message,

"This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

Based on the recent hiccups with the new TIMS system during preregistration (as posted by Jenny - thanks) I'm sure they're still working through difficulties. Call team support at FIRST HQ if you need to, but I'm guessing we'll be back online soon and will give it a shot then.

Your error messages will vary, so don't worry about that ... now if you actually are able to get IN and then experience an error, please call team support at HQ.

Re: initial regional registration

According to this page, no one has registered yet, so no one is missing out on anything.

I advise taking a 1-2 hour break.

With all these lockups and server overloads and what not, I don't know why they don't request and/or require a staggered registration on the first day of regional registration.

Teams 1200+ get the first two hours.
Teams 600-1199 get the next two hours.
Teams 1-599 get the next two.
Open season after that.

Or something like that.

I highly, highly doubt anyone's going to get shut out of their first event.

I agree. Our primary sponsor is on the local Regional committee and gets nervous if they don't see our Team on the local Regional list. Then again I guess we all do.

Fun stuff I tell ya what.

As for not being shut out of our first regional... I have yet to have a year where my team hasn't ended up on the waiting list of its first regional. It always has turned out okay in the past though... but hoping not to go through the same headache.

[quote=Barry Bonzack]I got into the TIMS and realized that we had some issue with the alternate contact information and something with our sponsor information. ::Groan:: Are both of these absolutely needed to sign up? the QUOTE]

Barry, the short answer is yes.
It is necessary to enter your alternate and at least your school partner. Lots of help screens and many pages of instructions linked on the home page, explaining this.

FIRST only requires a School/Youth organization contact be specified as a "Partner Organizations" for pre-registration. Simply add a School/Youth organization contact on the "Partner Organizations" screen to complete this section.

You will have until December 2, 2005 to add additional partners and complete "Partner Organizations" information to be included in the program book.

If you have any questions, please read the help screens first. If you still have questions, please contact Team Support at frcteams@usfirst.org or (800)-871-8326.

Hang in there everyone.

Yeah I had about 30 seconds where I was able to get logged on, fix the alternate contact problem (one box was unchecked), stuck enough information in about the school, hit ok, and then back to the Baduser error. I am getting closer!

Re: initial regional registration

Everyone needs to go through pre-registration before signing up for a regional. I am posting this message that I sent out to all "my" teams and was in another thread from yesterday.

Once again, thanks to so many of you who have logged on to the TIMS (Team Information Management System) and pre-registered or tried to pre-register. As many of you have experienced, there are some growing pains with the transition to the new TIMS and translating some of the data.
When you are on the TIMS home page, read the "click here for a description of the registration process". The worksheets will help you collect all the information needed to get through the process.

There are some common issues that are occurring.

Do not press the "Back" button! This may corrupt your data. Instead use the "Back to Team Summary Page" link on the page.
If you are an existing team, do not log on as a new team and enter the information. If you have done this, you need to contact FIRST.
If you are an existing team, but a new main team contact and you do not access to the email of the previous main contact for the team, you need to contact FIRST.
If you have entered a phone number or email correctly, and you continue to receive a red error message at the top of the screen, you need to contact FIRST.

Re: initial regional registration

I apparently have the magic touch. After trying for some time to register, my mom finally handed registration duties over to me. I promptly got the "Service unavailable" error, then registered a few minutes later after the server came back up. Presumably with everyone booted off. Perhaps the solution is a timer that resets the FIRST server every 15-20 minutes to clear out all the users. Or maybe just some code to limit the number of users allowed to connect at any particular time.

EDIT: We're in at GLR, by the by. Lone Star fills up much slower than other regionals, so we register for our out of state regional first.

No, but there's a similarly numbered team registered for GLR. I suspect these are temporary team numbers assigned until a team has paid and stuff. So standard team numbers aren't wasted if a team registers but can't pay.

They haven't been assigned a number yet. That simply means that there is a space reserved at that event for a rookie team. They'll be assigned a number based on when they register -- 17xx, just like the others.

Deposits are not required this year. You can just sign up for your initial regional event. For second, third etc. events you will have to pay up before you are added to the event.

Re: initial regional registration

Well It looks like Florida is full.

I am very excited to see our friends from 845 (Cutting Edge) come down here. Also looking forward to see team 190. It definitely looks like an exciting event.

At the 2006 FRC Events Stats webpage, there is all the information on all the events listed, including event capacity statistics.
