Well, before we can help you, could you explain to us what a "Product Integration Manager" does exactly (examples help too :) ) and also what your team's previous "Product Integration Manager" did.

Will work with the production mentor, group leaders and advisor to coordinate design, manufacturing and electrical groups regarding production. This includes but isn’t limited too:
- Keep extremely well informed on all competition rules (what can and can’t be used on the robot, manufacturing (specifics….etc.)
- Help Manager ensure that the communication lines are open between competition, electronics, and design teams, and that all things are being thought out and discussed fully before being put on the robot.
- Working with team manager to coordinate production schedule and establish deadlines.
- Order All parts for the robot in a timely manager to coordinate with master schedule
.- Check kit of parts at the beginning of the six weeks to ensure that all parts have been received.
- Record robot parts list for FIRST.
- Coordinate loading and shipping of crate to competitions

That's all one position!?!?!
That's a lot on one plate so you may want to delegate some of those tasks to others.
Keeping up on the rules is pretty easy if you stay on top of things. Read the Q&A every day or at least twice a week, else it will overwhelm you. Also ChiefDelphi is pretty good for that sort of stuff as long as you remember that nothing anyone here says is official.

Good Luck,
Ian

Re: New Position

....Sounds very similar to my position actually. Our team is setup like a company - two VPs and 4 department heads - each VP covers two departments. In my case, I'm over construction and design. It's my responsibility to literally memorize the manual, kit of parts, etc. I literally do all of the things you mentioned - plus I'm the one who gets the lovely job of keeping up with attendance and everyone's grades (below and C and you are gone!!!!)

Re: New Position

Your job description seems to be lacking one hugely important task--making sure that the actual integration of different sub groups comes together without problems.

the mechanics, electronics, and whatever other groups you have can make amazing things to put on the robot, but if they don't go together...you've got a problem.
