Regionals

How many regionals is your team expecting to attend?

Re: Regionals

not that it is a big deal but it is known as the "championship" not "nationals" anymore

Re: Regionals

Our team will be attending two regionals this year.

I think we've been very spoiled in the past because we used to be one of the founding teams and would automatically qualify for nationals. When our team started, it was named Team 20 because of sponsor assignments I believe. We then changed to 250 when our sponsor name changed. Then our two-school team split up so that Shenendahowa and Colonie would each have their own team. They took the name Team 20 and we kept 250. So now I know our team does not get the exemption because our base used to be Shenendahowa High School before we split. I'm not sure if their team gets an automatic exemption into nationals still or not. I hope they do because somebody has to go down there and represent :p .

But back to my original point, our team has been spoiled with the exemption. This year we don't have it and they're afraid of going to 1 regional and saving for nationals. (Our team can only go to 2 competitions). So now instead of possibly qualifying for nationals, we get two regionals. This upsets me for a couple reasons.

1. At the regional competitions, there is not as much to be working towards because you know you're into your next competition.
2. Our first team meeting involving us students was last night. The adults had already made the decision.

I'm feeling a bit sorry for the kids who were Juniors last year when we went to nationals. We got on that plane to come home and they had no idea that we would not even try to get them back again.

Re: Regionals

Team 1640 is planning to attend just one regional as that is all we have the funds for. We are in our second year and went to the Chesapeake Regional last year and placed 23/55!

Re: Regionals

Team 836 is going to the Chesapeake Regional and either the BAE Systems Regional in New Hampshire or the New Jersey Regional or Palmetto Regional which ever one we can get into first, and if our robot and team earn it, championships in ATL.

Our team is expected 2 regionals an hopefully championship! Most likely we will be going though. We are going to UTC and we havnt picked a second regional, but we have granite state, philly, boston, an new jersey in mind. We'll see how things go, an hope to see some of you at some regionals. :D

This year I think we will cut it down to 2 regionals & champs.

Last year we went to three, and it was taxing on the mentor's time, as well as the students having to get out of school. The one advantage we had was that champs was on school break, but FIRST picked the non-school break for champs, so now we definitely can't go to as many competitions...

Our team will be attending the Arizona Regional for sure, then either Vegas, LA, or Nats. We won't make that decision until we know our funding and the time our teacher sponsors have.

This year we are going to attend 2 reginals and nationals...but if we dont make the trip to nationals this year we are then going to compete in 3 regionals.

Unfortunately, our team only goes to the PNW regional each year. I wish we went to more, but we don't have the omeny to. We may not even make it to the PNWs this year because we haven't even raised the 6k entrance fee yet :(

We're attending hopefully 3 regionals, but have only signed up for Great lakes and Waterloo so far. Of course, the goal is to qualify for Championships.

Re: Regionals

Team 1403 is headed out to Boston for the regional up there. We are also going to attend our home competition over here in NJ. Besides, the NJ regional is having its 10th B-Day this year and we wouldn't wanna miss it for the world :p . The Championship event is in our plans and we are going to try to sign up for it when the tiers open up for our tier. Good luck to everyone this upcoming year!

GO 1403!!!

Re: Regionals

Team 1318 will definitely be attending the PNW regional this year. We are currently working on raising funds for a second regional, it is difficult for us because we don't have a base of steady sponsors, and we have only attended one regional per year for the last two years (since we were created). Both of the last two years, however, we have gotten to the regional with a robot that wasn't quite all it could be.

This year, we are hoping to avoid that problem by designing faster, even if we don't get to put in every cool idea, and also hopefully going to a second regional. The idea is that by the end of our first regional, we will have great drivers and a fine-tuned robot, and will be much more competitive at the second. Have those of you who do attend two or more regionals found this to be the case?

Well as it stands now, im gonna be at the UCF for two teams, 1065 and 1543 =) but yea, i dont think more than one regional or even the champions are in reach this year sadly to say

Re: Regionals

Team 269 is heading back down to the Purdue Boilermaker Regional once again because we had such an awesome time last year. The next weekend, we will be rocking Milwaukee at the brand-spankin'-new Wisconsin Regional :D

As for the Championships, well, its still up in the air. We have approval from all of the mentors and team leaders (except one) to sign up if slots become available. Then again, money always tends to be a big issue...we'll see.

Re: Regionals

we're headed off definitely to the denver regional. the buckeye regional in cleveland is still iffy though. we might just go and support our "partner" team. and of course, we're always looking for a bid to nationals!

116 should be attending VCU and the Atlanta regionals this year. This is the first year we wont be at Chesepeake (last year was the first we weren't at VCU), and we'll miss you guys up in Annapolis! :( But Atlanta is the same weekend, and it has a VEX regional there as well.

Crt 306 is signed up to go to the pittsburg and phillidaphia(sorry if i mispelled)

We will be attending nationals hopefully because if we win a regional and can go the great and mighty Coach and teacher Mr. Morrison(not sure if i spelled that right either) has agreed to shave his head i we do make it.

Re: Regionals

Both UPS 1675 and the new Thomas More Community Robotics Club 1714 will be making the journey to Cleveland in week 2 and then defending our home turf at the WI regional in week 4. UPS will hopefully be making an appearance on the pending list for the Championships this week, but TMCRC will need to earn their way there.

Good luck, everyone!

Team 47 is going to Detroit, West MI and the Championship. We are on a wait list for Great Lakes.

We will only be taking a scaled down, very small team to Western Michigan to conserve funds.

No regionals outside of MI this year.

Go to the BAE Regional *shakes fist*

I hate the Boston regional already. They took away the teams I was looking forward to seeing at the BAE regional. And since we are sponsored by BAE Systems, we kinda have to go to their regional.

Oh! I like you guys! We saw you at the Buckeye Regional. Oh yeah, you remember that robot with the four tetras the fell over during the Thursday Practice Rounds? *points at self with pride*

Sorry for the triple posting D:

But now for an actual reply

I wanted to go to The Silicon Valley Regional in San Jose CA, but we are going to Nationals. Which is still pretty cool. Oh yeah... the BAE Systems Granite State Regional.

I wish we could go to another regional cause then you interact with the teams better like last year. It was so much fun.

I love FIRST

lol
