Website Intro CC

Ok i need some constructive critisism on our website intro.

Found here: http://www.cooneyrobotics.com

Anyways, i made the whole thing in photoshop CS2. Ive already tried to make the outer spikey things spin but photoshop doesnt make it too easy to do. I basically went and kept duplicating layers and rotating 5 degrees. But when uploaded onto the page, it lagged horribly and threatened to kill thousands of inocent children. So i scrapped that idea and now i need a new one.

I have considered:
-Mouseovers
-Shimmer Effect

I really am out of ideas and i would like to make this look nice. And no, i dont want to do it in flash because our school is not "Flash Friendly".

What about just changing the color of the violet on mouseover?

By the way, I really like the rest of it (neat color scheme)

Flashy (as in moving and annoying) websites are one of the worst inventions ever. Please don't make your page moving and annoying. 1999 has come and gone, leave the .gifs with it.

That said, the rest of the site is pretty slick, but why does the front page's main area ("Welcome to the Oconomowoc...") have a vertical scroll bar? Why not just let the content go down and fill the page out?

Oh, and watch out for FIRST Logo usage rules.

This looks quite good. As Greg said, please check the FIRST logo usage rules, I think you don't fit the requirements.

I don't get a roll over.

Safari running 10.4.2

I agree, intro pages are very very very 1990s. There is no use for it, even though it looks nice. Remember, part of any good website is to have information available easily, one extra click isn't easy.

Looks pretty good. I would add a mouseover effect to the links down the left though and I agree that the scroll bar nearly down the center of the page looks out of place. I'd toss it. Other than that, looks good.

Looks good, I'm personally not a fan of the purple, as I'm colorblind and it plays tricks with me, but it looks great! I'd suggest a mouseover with purple glow or somthing...

And Possibly 3 Different sizes? Don't forget about the people with bad eyesight...or the people running @ 1600x1200...

LOVE! the cover very cool. The slightly blurred "Click to continue" is kinda annoying (just me). If the use of the first logo is legal in your main banner ( it's in the lower right hand corner ) maybe it should stand out a little bit more. The "Recent news", "Welcome to CooneyRobotics.com" & "For more info on first programs visit usfirst.org" are too hard to see, maybe you can make the graphic above home stand out more, but the "Last Updated September 3rd, 2005" is so dark I didn't notice it until I looked at the source. :o
Still though the cover page is way too cool. :D ||| Mozilla firefox v1.0.7, 1024x768
