<obviously not an entry> One side of me wants to be especially freaked out at this entry. Another side wants to think this is a conspiracy by Dave to make everyone else get -infinity in this contest, as that perpetual hounding about the upcoming game would obviously violate The OTHER Heidi Foster Rule.

Another side, however, thinks Dave is being serious, and I'm on the Game Design Committee without even knowing it. If that's the case, someone please catch me up to speed--my email is leveretw at the domain of mailbox dot sc dot edu

This is the last picture taken of the assaulted student from Pike High School, before Casey Kasem burst into the room, screaming "how dare you ignore my command!!".

Team 1018's new robot uses a clock work mechanism but it always seems to fail when the arm is fully raised. This makes the wind-up key very hard to get to.

Girl: ok if we can be HP i think we can reach it with a tetra and we can just easily drop the tetra on a goal!!!
Guy: that sounds like a good idea but we need a long coat so that we can look as one!!! :D :D :D

Here we see further proof that household robots are becoming more and more practical and more widely available to consumers.
This model shown, the XMAS-1018 is designed to put that pesky hard to reach star and/or angel on your tree during the holiday season.

Girl: I can almost reach it... Just a little further... A tad bit more... I'm sooo close...

Guy in back [to himself]: This is fun. Maybe I should continue to 'accidentially' nudge the "up" button. :p

1018's '05 robot was rather reluctant to give up its end effector for use as a propeller on the team's entry in the 2006 water-based competition.

Guy: I know there's a thread somewhere on Chief Delphi that says this is the proper way to pick up a girl at a robotics event.

<not an entry> Billfred, if by tormenting you mean Dave sticking his tongue out at someone then yes, I've been tormented a lot. (I can't believe I forgot to post that picture on line!) <not an entry>

Team's mentor in back: now, if you spin the propellor to the left, it will come down, and if you spin it right, it goes up.

*girl on shoulders reaches the propellor and spins it*

Mentor: NO! Wrong...

*arm goes throught the faux ceiling and hits the real one*

...way. Here we go again.

/[not part of entry] update on the "Gary Dillard rule, Wilma edition" - still no power (or internet) at home, but I've got it here at work. I lost some roof tiles and had some big gashes in the plywood protecting my windows, had to wait in line 2 hours for gas this morning, but of course my biggest concern was that I wouldn't be able to get an entry into the caption contest this week. /[not part of entry]

We dedicate this competition to the memory of Rachel, who made the ultimate sacrifice by flinging herself on top of our driver to protect him from the robot when it went crazy during developmental testing.
