CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
...which I guarantee will include no trucks, towns, or thunder on my part.
Here's the scores: Code:
Gary Dillard 44http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...gle&picid=9985 As always, the deadline is Saturday at midnight. Go! |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
A member of Pike Robodevils is trying to get that "fan" off of the hook.
Guy who is taking the picture: dude... pefect shot, hold it right there. Guy who has the girl on his shoulder: Ya dude... take a picture, this is my ONLY proof that girls like to be on my shoulders. woooooooo. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl reaching- " My mommy told me i can do anything i set my mind to."
Guy holding her up- " Not without a ladder and a miracle." |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
You know, if they only allowed one more motor in the KOP we wouldn't have to boost someone up there every few minutes to start it spinning again.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
How many FIRST students does it take to put a part on the robot?
More than there should be. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
i i i i ca ca cantttt g g get iiiit. gah

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
"lets have a live bat for a mascot this year! it will be fun, it will be unique.... I KNEW this would happen!"
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Here we see 1018's robot which was designed to have a purpose when the season ends. See it's so tall and powerful we figure that if we get someone to hug Big Mike then we can lift him up and say that "Our Robot Bearhugged Big Mike!"
[NOTENTRY]Hey is that a propellor? Billfred are you part of the GDC?[/NOTENTRY] |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
OK, guys, stop putting the lift higher on me...I caan't reeeaaach that high...you're about to go through the ceiling...
::CRASH THUD:: *screams* owowowow, I told you you were too high!!!!! |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
1 of 2
If I could just reach my fingers into the sharp spinning thing... 2 of 2 Seriously guys do you really have to keep putting my cell phone up there...it isnt funny anymore! |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl: ...Bright..*reach*..Light...*Reach*
Guy in Background: Kids now adays are too easily amused. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
And here we see team 1018 doing their best "Heidi gets a boost from Brandon Martus" impression.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl to guy under her: Why did you have to take my fan and why did our last battery have to die?!?!
Guy: Because i love you Girl: *SLAP* |

Nope, I have nothing to do with the game design committee, other than posting in those threads. I get tormented by Dave just as much as anybody...well, except Heidi. I imagine that between proximity and her hobbies, she gets a little more tormenting from Dave. </obvious non-entry> |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Guy: Tell me why we are doing this again?
Girl: Because Billfred dropped a hint about making a robot that can change lightbulbs. I figured that we should take the hint, since he is on the GDC and he should know. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Guy:
"Rachel, next year can we just have a piñata for your birthday party game?" |

Another side, however, thinks Dave is being serious, and I'm on the Game Design Committee without even knowing it. If that's the case, someone please catch me up to speed--my email is leveretw at the domain of mailbox dot sc dot edu |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
This is the last picture taken of the assaulted student from Pike High School, before Casey Kasem burst into the room, screaming "how dare you ignore my command!!".

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Team 1018's new robot uses a clock work mechanism but it always seems to fail when the arm is fully raised. This makes the wind-up key very hard to get to.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl: ok if we can be HP i think we can reach it with a tetra and we can just easily drop the tetra on a goal!!!
Guy: that sounds like a good idea but we need a long coat so that we can look as one!!! :D :D :D |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Here we see further proof that household robots are becoming more and more practical and more widely available to consumers.
This model shown, the XMAS-1018 is designed to put that pesky hard to reach star and/or angel on your tree during the holiday season. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl: I can almost reach it... Just a little further... A tad bit more... I'm sooo close...
Guy in back [to himself]: This is fun. Maybe I should continue to 'accidentially' nudge the "up" button. :p |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
1018's '05 robot was rather reluctant to give up its end effector for use as a propeller on the team's entry in the 2006 water-based competition.
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Guy: I know there's a thread somewhere on Chief Delphi that says this is the proper way to pick up a girl at a robotics event.
<not an entry> Billfred, if by tormenting you mean Dave sticking his tongue out at someone then yes, I've been tormented a lot. (I can't believe I forgot to post that picture on line!) <not an entry> |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Girl: it's just soo pretty i must find a way to touch...
Guy: geez why am i doing this... i rather be home playing on my computer not being a chair... |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Guy: ...I don't...think..we can possibly...make a...totem pole as...tall as...the robot...GAH YOU'RE HEAVY!
Girl: YOU THINK I'M FAT?!?! Guy: .... Person on the side: *whispers* SAY NO! She may not torture you if you do... |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
wow im so glad i joined robotics ..
|
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
Team's mentor in back: now, if you spin the propellor to the left, it will come down, and if you spin it right, it goes up.
*girl on shoulders reaches the propellor and spins it* Mentor: NO! Wrong... *arm goes throught the faux ceiling and hits the real one* ...way. Here we go again. |

Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
/[not part of entry] update on the "Gary Dillard rule, Wilma edition" - still no power (or internet) at home, but I've got it here at work. I lost some roof tiles and had some big gashes in the plywood protecting my windows, had to wait in line 2 hours for gas this morning, but of course my biggest concern was that I wouldn't be able to get an entry into the caption contest this week. /[not part of entry]
We dedicate this competition to the memory of Rachel, who made the ultimate sacrifice by flinging herself on top of our driver to protect him from the robot when it went crazy during developmental testing. |
Re: CD's Unofficial Caption Contest #68
"What do you mean it's manually operated?!?"
