I have about 300 pics/vids from Palmetto which I will post over the next few days. I met Billfred at the Social. We had a great robot but I would rather not comment on how we did as an alliance because I would get a lot of flaming. Oh well.

I LOVE PALMETTO.

Everyone at this regional is so friendly, so nice, and so inspirational. This is why MORT keeps coming back each year.

Some thanks are in store...

TEAM 247 and TEAM 1251. We couldn't have asked for a better alliance. Rankings didn't matter in this case, because I knew you guys were amazing, so never lose faith! You guys were EVERYTHING, and we REALLY can't wait to see you at Nats. KEEP IN TOUCH. And hey, thanks for getting all your mentors in that fountain!

(and P.S. thanks 108 for cheering for us, we know we loved cheering for you guys)

Thanks to the Pi-oneers, for the support from good ole JERSEY, you guys did great through the whole competition, BE PROUD.

Thank you to all those volunteers. WOW did you guys clean up that field like none other. I couldn't get over how fast everyone was, it even stressed me out because it was less time for collection of thoughts after each match!

If you saw two girls from MORT walking around with a camera, thanks for your "one word to describe FIRST," the documentary should be AMAZING.

Congrats to ALL the teams at Palmetto, you ALL did awesome, there's no denying that at all. (Especially 16, 95, and 1676)

And of course, thanks to my own team. The drive team, programmers, and scout team. None of this would have been possible without you. Thanks for trusting I would make the right decisions, even though you all know deep down you were worried. Thanks to Mike from 247 for giving me that extra push to go with my gut feeling, and not what I was "supposed" to do.

Hope everyone keeps in touch, and I'll SEE YOU AT NATIONALS.

MORT, Tigers, and Bears...OH MY!

The Palmetto Regional was amazing! The competition was exciting, and there were many great teams that attended. I would like to thank the PIoneers (1676) and the Grasshoppers (95) for being great alliance partners! :D Finals were intense and we had great competition. Congratulations to teams 1251, 11, and 247 for an outstanding performance!

The flag was awesome and I love the “PIhopper Squad” … that’s great!
Good luck to all teams attending Nationals!

Congratulations to our friends from New Jersey, MORT 11 along with DaBears 247 and TechTigers 1251 for winning! It was a great match, even if my team's robot went down in autonomous.

Also, thanks to my own team's amazing alliance, Bomb Squad 16 and Grasshoppers 95! I think we put up some good fights there and I don't know about you all, but I had a great time cheering on our alliance!!! [[Plus the flag was pretty fun to rig with all the items, creating the "Pihopper Squad" :D ]]

I would also like to thank Team 180 SPAM for teaching us all to play STOMP at the social, and also Team 1885 for bringing on the X-TREME DUCK DUCK GOOSE! [[You guys really were Rookie All-Stars, have fun in Atlanta]]

This was an awesome regiona, and in my opinion, completely worth the 13 hour bus ride we took to attend it!

Can't wait to hopefully return and compete in another great Palmetto competition!

Thanks to all again!

~Zara... but you can call me Pi-girl~

Team 95 is getting to be quite fond of Palmetto ourselves. We've only been there twice, and each time we've gotten some hardware to show for it. It's quite different from BAE, in that teams are more relaxed, the bots more polished, the weather nicer, and the game play much more brutal.

That, and 1676+16+95 made for some pretty fun elimination matches. First time as a mentor I've been able to watch right from the sideline, too.

It was a great event for us, but I was surprised that we were not chosen for elimination rounds. We had our share of problems, but we worked through them and finished 19th. In our last match we dumped all 10 balls into the lower goal in autonomous. We usually scored another 8 to 12 after that. On defense, we shut down anyone we were assigned to, including 343 Metal in Motion. We almost always got onto the ramp.

It makes me think that marketing is more important that function, (just like the real world). Anyway, watch for us in Atlanta.

well you are welcome for the little boost to picmk 1251, it was a hard decision, and I am very glad you looked to me to help you out in your decision. I thank you for the compliment, and the whole team thanks you all for picking us to win Palmetto. I wish you guys the best of luck and hopefully our paths cross in nationals. That would be sweet to go to nationals with 11 and 247 on an alliance like none other. Thanks for everything and keep in touch.

Mort, Tigers Bears....O MY

Don't worry. You will be watched at Nats.

If its any consolation, you were a DEFINITE consideration by MORT. We knew you guys dumped well, had you down as one of the top 4 best dumpers. See you in ATLANTA.

Well put, alot of people were pretty puzzled by us picking a low seeded, non-shooting team. But thanks to great scouting, we knew you'd be key to our alliance. Proves that seeding doesn't mean much in some cases, which is why you need a good eye on scout team, and thinking outside the box.

Oh man what an exciting regional! Congrats to the Tech Tigers I LOVE you guys. I'm so happy that my team got to be in an alliance with 108 they've been one of my favorite teams for years. Thank's to anyone who cheered us on including 1270, you guys are allways fun. I'm also glad to see team 16 make it down to SC! I remember travelling with 343 my freshmen year of highschool to the St. Louis regional (2002) and watching you guys take it. I really liked all the designs Grasshoppers were amazing. I can't wait till nationals/ next season when I can actually mentor. Thanks to ALL for making this a good regional to watch. :)

Personally I feel that our alliance demonstrated what FIRST is all about. It's not about the wins, it's about how well you work together.

Congratulations to everyone! it was an amazing regional!

a special thanks to the tech tigers for blocking for us during autonomous, we couldn't have won autonomous with out you guys covering us! and thanks to da' bears. Both of your teams are amazing!

and of course, congratulations to my Team, 11.

MORT, Tigers, and Bears OH MY!

oh my indeed. Thanks to Ed for coming up with that awesome chant!

It might be a little late but I'm doing it anyway.

On behalf of Team 1319 Golden Strip Robotics, I would like to thanks teams 1436, 1284, and 337 for going to the quarterfinals.

Y'all played like true champions and it was a pleasure to be alongside such fine people. You were truly gracious professionals in the heat of battle and we appreciate everything. We played our hearts out against a very strong alliance and we held our heads high.

We hope to see you again! :)

I didn't.

Re: 2006 Palmetto Regional

More likely than not, that was us. We brought our "b" bot down on the bus and kept it in the back of our Suburban to strip off parts as needed. For example, we took the omni wheels off the "b" bot in anticipation of our wheels on the"competition" bot failing. We also ran out and took an Igus pillow block off the bot for 1758 when one of theirs failed.
