Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Check your privacy settings. Sometimes you might have privacy//security settings to high and it wont allow certin traffic to come through. Or maybe it isnt high enough and the sites server doesnt want to send it since it is a secure sight, its going to make sure it has a clear channel. Are you using a laptop? if you are then there a other things that could be wrong ( dont wanna get into it unless i have to)

Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Ive been change security settings left and right with no result

Re: yet again i have more computer problems
How is your computer set up to connect to the internet?
Is it just that one site or is it multiple? |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems

Re: yet again i have more computer problems

Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Do you have a firewall?
and if it isnt too much trouble, what is your IP? [edit]and so no one tires to hack you or anything only post the FIRST TWO sections It should be formated like 255.255.255.255 only send 255.255.255.255 The easist way for me to get it is to hold down the windows key and hit "R" and that will open a run command and type in CMD and then that will open a command prompt and then type ipconfig [/edit] Your problem could be a private unregistered IP address.... Is it Wired or WIreless? |

his IP address would have nothing to do with it, nor would unregistered IP address nor if wired or wireless. Most likely this could be they either blocked the IP address ( did you try computers on the same network ie another computer in your house, or at different locations ie at school or library?), or this could be caused by needing to restart the browser before settings take place, maybe even restart the computer. what OS are you using? I found running my new install of 2003 server, it didn't let me into many websites period. can you tell us specifically what websites you are trying to access? also, if this is simply for an order you are trying to track, could you just access the tracking from another computer for the next couple days til you get it? or will you be having more shipments from this company? -Mike M-PUTE |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems
It could be that if your using a firewall software with relativiely high settings it would block some sites based on known bad sites.
Just a suggestion |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Funny, I had the exact same problem when I read this post. I could not access gmail, mozilla update, or any other secure site.
I just rebooted my computer and everything is working again. I have a feeling that my gmail notifier caused the problem; I was messing with it during boot-up. Perhapse it prematurely tried to use the http module and prevented it from completely loading. Whatever the real problem is, it is weird. I'd like to hear if rebooting worked, and whether or not you have gmail notifier. Good luck. |

Web servers cant send information to an unregisters IP address and all private ip address are unregisterd. So when an unregisterd IP wants information from a webserver it sends its request to a proxy server and the proxy server uses it's IP address to get the information from the web server. Now if the webserver doesnt trust the proxy server it will NOT send the information. Thus, preventing the system from getting the information to the client. As for the wired//wireless aspect. Most wireless connections give you a private IP address, yet again leading to the probelm of an unregistered IP And if your wondering "Shes just in high school...she shouldnt know this" I'm taking a networking class, and im learning about this type a thing as we speak...litterally im reading my book and looking at cd. But yeah... just to inform you guys that im not just guessing And seeing as the Unregistered IP is very unlikely but still an aspect but it is most likely a firewall problem. Quote:

Re: yet again i have more computer problems
He still could have an unregisterd IP address. Mine is unregistered and im working off Verizon Broadband. I understand that the likely hood of it being an unregistered IP problem is very unlikely but it still could be the probelm, Just becuase its a isp doesnt mean its always going to be perfect.
AND He needs to check his firewall!!! Where is this guy anyway =] |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems

|
Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Well still who made it?
and where do you plan on taking it to? |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems
Well I do this work for a living, and it does seem that some aspect if being blocked. If I am correct the problem is that secure sites are not allowed. That being said, mainly the cause of this is most often a firewall setting, since you said your firewall was disabled, and still no luck. Try to disable your firewall, reboot, and than try again if that is not what you did. From all my work dealing with Windows, rebooting is definately an important step in any procedure. If that doesn't work, maybe you have cookies blocked, or a setting of the likes that the site needs to allow you to connect. Just a first hand thought. See what your browser is allowing and not allowing. If everything checks out good, call your ISP. They will be able to see if a problem is something on their end, and maybe the cause of you pulling your hair out. ;]
Just think that you buy your laptop and find out the problem still exsists. I would highly suggest talking to your ISP and seeing if their end is in running shape. Seen it happen before, not to pretty. =] |
Re: yet again i have more computer problems
And if after contacting the ISP and maybe changing ISPs and it still doesnt work...
Switch to Apple. or better yet... Linux =] I wouldnt reccomend this for a beginner but if you wanna keep widnows "Fdisk..Format..Reinstall...do dah ...do dah" But Darmagi knows what im talking about(He went threw the course I'm in) |
