Model "Wish" list

I'm feeling motivated for some strange reason ........

Give me some examples of models that you wish you had access to and I'll make an attempt to post some of them on the FirstCadLibrary.

Please keep it on the component level. I probably won't have time to model that 12 speed gearbox you've been thinking about.

If I can find the part in my junkbox - or - get enough data online, I'll model it.

The new Breaker Panel would be a nice model to have. Specs. can be found on the IFI website.

If you do get around to doing this, is it possible to do it as an assembly—with the components separated like in the DeWalt exploded view?

I have a model of the breaker panel I made. A bunch of people asked for it and there was talk of someone hosting it, but no one did, so I still have it. It isn't the greatest (it is missing things like the serial port) but it has most of it. You can try and download from my site.

Speaking of CAD parts,
Does anyone know if VEX has some CAD models of the parts somewhere??
If not, one of the kids on our team is just going to make them himself in CAD so no biggie.

I think the most intensive part (graphically anyways) of making the metal parts for example will just be the array of the square/diamond shaped holes.

Ed,

Since Streamline has not been updated in a few years...

I'm interested in anything BOM that is electrical. The new power distribution panel has already been mentioned. Updates to the Spike model (the new ones have a different form factor) and robot controller (different I/O placement) would be helpful.

Thanks for all your help.

Regards,

Mike

I'm currently updating the Innovation First Parts including the Spike, Victor, and Controllers. The Breaker Panel is almost done. All of these Parts will be done B4 the end of the year.

Thanks for the input ......

Thanks!

It's a labor of love and I'm glad to hear from teams that find this stuff useful. It's always kinda cool to see some of the parts show up in various CD posts when assembly ideas are being discussed. It keeps me motivated.....

As a user of the firstCadLibrary, I'd like to give a thanks to Ed. Many times I've needed a sprocket or some other random part, and it's been a major time saver to be able to go grab it there, rather than spend the time making every individual sprocket. So thanks!

Ed, if you need a DeWalt, Purchase one from Stu's contact and let me know your cost. I will pay for it. It's the least we can do with all of the work you do. PM me and I will send a money order (in American $).

I just received my Dewalt order yesterday. I'll start modeling as soon as I finish the Innovation First parts. Thanks Steve for the offer. My FRC team (34) allowed me to purchase the parts.

Hmm... I a millionth the DeWalt tranny, that way I won't have to draw it. :) A braker panel would be nice, I drew the one last year, but now it's been lost somewhere away. That's all I can think of for now.

They had a black body with two long #8 (actually probably metric) bolts down the side of the body. They were a bit heavier and definetly more powerful than the Jideco motors and last year they gave us one of each kind.

here's a pic...

Is this what you're talking about?

I drafted that in AutoCAD, but I don't have it for Inventor. I CAN, however, export to STEP or IGES if you want it. Alternatively, I can send it to Ed and he could put it up. Just let me know!

Doug G 28-12-2005 20:09

Yep, that's the one. Follow up with Ed about getting it posted on his site for all of us to enjoy :) Thanks. Now to get the AM Shifter into an Inventor Assembly file - right now it's just an imported STEP file that reads in as one part. I may take that on myself.

First off, 1403 <3's FIRSTcadlibrary Thank You!

Also for the CMUcam, the Pan/Tilt Assembly, would that be possible?

Other random ideas off my head, I don't expect any of this to be done, but since your open to ideas...
  • 2006 RC
  • Light box Assembly
  • Mabuchi Motor
  • Left and Right hand versions of the Nippon-Denso Window motors
  • Poof Ball (with any available material data, such as approx weight and density, please)
  • Joystick? There are some operator interfaces up there, so why not the kit joysticks? the old neutral handed joysticks would be popular too
  • speaking of operator interfaces...2006 Operator
  • Andymark Battery Pins?
  • If you guys get really bored-Google Camera
This isn't really an Inventor issue, but more of a management issue, would it be possible if there could be a big .zip file with a "Virtual Kit"

keep up the awesome work!

The 2006 RC & 2006 OI are exactly the same as the 2005 versions (graphically of course) so I do not plan on posting another version. I plan on posting the Nippon-Denso motors and the Mabuchi motor right after I finish the FIRST Transmission Detail and Dewalt Transmission.

I'm not sure that providing a "big .zip" file makes sense for the FCL because individual models are modified and added on a somewhat regular basis during the season. If everyone downloaded the "big .zip" on a regular basis I would go broke paying my IP for bandwidth. Maybe one of these days I'll make the big time and get a sponsor (or win the lottery). For now, we'll have to live within my budget constraints.

A "BaneBot's" transmission?

Right now I have a block that follows the basic dimensions and mounting holes, but it lacks that level of detail we've all come to love. I doubt that they will be as popular as the dewalts, but there is a buzz about them.

As for the DeWalt Transmission, I have an extremely rough Inventor 10 version with the mounts and CIM motor attached. It's just the outer shell for the most part, but if anyone would like it, you can download it from my team's website. www.team1742.com just go to the downloads page. If you need a different file type, step or iges or something, just email me and I'll see what I can do. :)
