[Edit] This seems to me like a massive undertaking to score this event.... especially with no cap on the amount of participants. These fantasy first drafts often go unscored, and are merely a waste of time for the participants(the IRI Fantasy FIRST draft for example). That being said, I'm still in.

Oh and to help out with Holtzman's suggestion that this would be a massive under taking to score this, it would be a good idea to score this weekly so we get an idea of who is where, and so we don't have to do it all at once.

Actually, IFI did get scored, but due to various unfortuneate circumstances it was never posted, but a winner was determined. That being said I'm all for helping score if you want help Billfred.

Just to keep the drafting from going on for a month, I'd think it wiser to limit it to four rounds.

I'd like to use this league to experiment with drafting a bit. In essence, it's like the one I posted in the suggestions thread. Step one will involve setting the draft order:

Round 1: Names from a hat (or similar randomization device)
Round 2: Same, backwards.
Round 3: New names from the metaphorical hat
Round 4: The new names, backwards.

Once the draft order is set, we'll set a timetable for reasonable hours (say, 8:30 PM until 11:30 PM Eastern each night). Every ten minutes, someone will gain the opportunity to draft. They don't have to draft in that ten minutes (although that makes the most sense strategically), but they do have to draft before the trading deadline. Each empty slot at the trading deadline is a 25-point penalty. (The penalty exists because it's possible for someone to lose points on a team that they drafted correctly. It should be impossible, however, for a team that competes to lose 25 FF points.)

Trading your time slot is just like trading teams--one for one. Package deals with a team and a time slot are considered fair game, so long as both parties are switching equal numbers of teams and time slots.

Thoughts?

I can see where you are going with deadkines on draft picks and such, so 4 rounds sounds like a great idea. But what about a limit on people? This could potentially lead to fewer headaches when it came to scoring AND drafting. I know that the draft date is TBDand the 17th is the end last day to sign up, but any tentative time frame running trough your mind for drafting?

I guess I wasn't clear--I'm perfectly content capping the list at 35 people. That's 140 draft picks, with (assuming a new drafter is eligible every ten minutes) eighteen picks per night with a three-hour window of new drafting each night. So if we start drafting 12/18, we'd finish on 12/27 (eight days of drafting, with no clock-based draft going on 12/24-25). If the list fills up beforehand, or if we don't have a full roster, that timeline will naturally change.

That said, expect the drafting process to start a night or two after signups close.
