Well some quick searching turned up several interesting resources that you might want to consider.

First there are several teams in the boston area,
Here is a link to the list on the FIRST website:
http://www.usfirst.org/frc/map/index...st&area=MA-USA

Then there is the boston regional, i'm sure that if you contacted them there are volunteer oppertunities at the event, the website for the regional is: http://www.bostonfirst.org./index.html

Also a quick google search turned up lots of sites when i searched "Boston FIRST robotics"

Good luck finding your niche in the boston area.

Ummm...I believe that you can head in four differnt directions and actually reach a team. Northeastern has the Nutrons. Boston University has a team. MIT has a team. Those are the only teams I know about.

Re: Boston?

MIT has a team? that would actually be very convenient for me...

But i thought that first was for high school, not college?

Is it like a high-school team SPONSORED by mit?

Northwestern is close too. I walked there to get a haircut the other day...

Also, i'm a little awkward in social situations, meeting new people. thats not to say like, i'm shy, but that i act a little... off? sometimes?.. any one on the board in the boston area? If i had someone that i already "Knew" to start things off it migth be better

Re: Boston?

FIRST is for everyone. There are many teams that are sponsored by Colleges. If you take my team, 229 for example.

Clarkson sponsors a team. The team is made up of 2 high schools. We have other sponsors as well, but Clarkson supplies the "engineers", who are college students that just happen to learn as do the high schoolers. Now on most of the college sponsored teams, there are no real engineers, just engineering students and high school students. umm what else can i add. Well if you have any questions about the confusion i just said IM me or something.

Who do you think actually mentors the high school kids??? Also, it's northeastern not northwestern.

Re: Boston?

WELL to say "MIT has a team" Is very Different from saying "MIT sponsors a team of high schoolers"

To me, you say "blah blah high school" has a team and is mentored by "blah blah" college.

and as for MY FIRST experience, we were pretty much without college students when it came to mentors. In our situation, the ENGINEERS and TEACHERS mentored.

Also, simply because i choose a different map orientation doesn't mean you need to discriminate.

Chill man, nobody is discriminating against you. He's simply pointing out that you mixed up schools.

Re: Boston?

Northwestern is in Chicago.
Northeastern is in Boston.
I go to Northeastern;
therefore, I live in Boston.
I'm a Boston FIRSTer!
There's a Boston Regional, and
I'm the Volunteer Coordinator.

So....

Go to VIMS and sign up to volunteer at the Boston Regional and meet area FIRSTers!!!!!!
