Bringin' some lobster home from NH ...

So besides FIRST, WestWind, and Segway, I've heard that another great thing about New Hampshire is the lobster prices. I'd really like to bring some home to Indy when I return from kickoff. Anyone know of a good place (within reasonable driving distance of Manchester) to get lobsters packed for shipping/transport??

I would, if I could remember... Sorry. ^^;; I'll see if I can ask one of my cousins if they remember.

I've never heard of that before, Stu. (Granted, I haven't lived in the state long, but I've known people from there for a long time)

I have seen Boston-based "Lobster Gram" featured on the Food Network (www.livelob.com); they're a mail-order business that delivers live lobster on your doorstep. Hope that helps!

Wow... they are so expensive. 88 dollars just for 2 12-14oz tails, plus 17 bucks for 2 day shipping (the cheapest shipping available)

Stu, I'm not sure about the immediate Manchester area, but 47 minutes away, in Hampton Beach NH, I know there are places that sell lobster.

I'm just not sure if they would be open now, it being the off-season, and them being on a beach (re: tourist) town.

I know we paid 21-25 dollars a pound for lobster in the MA area, and it's pretty much the same everywhere you go in New England (NH Included)

I"m sure that's better than prices in the Midwest where they have to ship in lobster, but that's the same price pretty much any good restaurant/live lobster place around here.

(Minus supermarkets where they are ok to good lobsters, but definitely not the best of all places to buy a lobster.)

Hopefully someone from the Manchester NH area will see this and respond with a better place.

But if not, Hampton Beach is a nice place, and you can visit part of the only 10-15 mile strip of beach in NH on the Atlantic.

Thanks ... actually I did find a source from a co-worker who used to live in North Hampton. He recommended a place that sells live lobster for $6-$10 per pound (www.defiantlobster.com). If I have time to drive out to Hampton Beach area on Friday I might consider taking orders ... :)
