Calling all Quidditch players!!
 

I figure Dean might be a little bored about now, FIRST is over for a while, the whole segway buzz has died down, so why don't we give HIM some homework? (since we didn't get any) Its awfully hard to play quidditch on the ground, impossible really, the snitch just flies right off, we've lost quite a few snitch (hrm how do you make snitch plural?) So, I think Dean needs to help all us muggles fly, sure if it looked like a broom that would be nice, but we aren't picky, we just want to play quidditch. I mean we could have a full FIRST quidditch team, Ashlee (973) would be a great seeker (she's TINY). Ken L (000) and Greg(768) would be wonderful beaters. Brett (201), Jeff (340) and myself Ashley (31) would be excellent chasers. And finally Wetzel (116) would be an awesome keeper.

Its not much to ask of Dean, to make a bunch of kids fly, I figure he could have it done in a week. :)

Can I be a beater?

That always seemed like the coolest position, to me...

yeah quidditch, im up for that. I'd probably be a good beater. But we should probably play with different rules, the 150 pts for a snitch catch is way to high and requires less strategery. Basically, whoever catches the snitch wins unless the other team is up by 16 goals, maybe we should do a 3x the losers score :) hehe.

I hate the 3x the losers score rule! Brett is out of the line up (he didnt even know what quidditch was!!) so we have a chaser position open. Hrm, maybe a FIRST quidditch face off, now that would be awesome.

one question, can dean design an anti gravity device? if he can, well, all's good, but if he can't...

seriously though, take a segway, add a few more gyrochips (so you can have 6 degrees of movement [up, down, back, forward, left, right]), and then throw on an anti gravity device. nice, easy, and a perfect holiday gift! :D heck, next year we can make flying robots! we can make robots that play Quidditch!! :p i need to get out more...

I wanna be a chaser!!!!!! I'm not strong enough to be a beater and can't concentrate long enough to be a seeker. Remember some of those games last for years. But i'm fast and even though its in the air I still have mad skills. Looks like the chaser position is mine :D

next year we need flying/floating robots that would play quiddich :) it won't happen but it would be cool. I also think that the 3x the loser score is pretty lame.

OK what house team are we? I'm hope its not Slytherin or Ravenclaw. Sorry but those houses won't do. Thanx for accepting me as new chaser I won't let you guys down. :D

HEHE im a slytherin, but since its a FIRST team well just all have to get along, even tho you hate me :) I did make gryffandor scarves for all my friends for christmas, it was quite a site to see us walk across campus :)

The only reason I know what is going on is thanks to my little brother who has explained all this to me (he's 8 and loves harry potter)...

And, it also explains why so many people talk to me about Harry potter on MSN/AOL/ICQ because my nick is Harry Rocks...

Now...Seeing as I can't play Quidditch, I suggest that I coach...You know the old saying "Those who can't do, teach".

Now...I've never read the books:

The seeker is the person who chases that gold thing with wings...

The 3 chasers try to score on the other team with those bigger balls...?

The 2 beaters try to beat the oppositions chasers...

The goaly is...well the goaly.

am i right about anything?

chasers use the smallers balls, beaters use the big black ones

i have a few awesome slytherin shirts, its great to see the little kids reactions when they see me wear them, i even had a kid stomp on my foot, wierd things those children

Field:
Three hoops on ~15meter poles at opposite ends of the field

Players:
1 Keeper
2 Beaters
3 Chasers
1 Seeker

Balls:
The red quaffle.
Two black bludgers
The golden snitch

The quaffle is soccerball size, the bludgers a bit smaller, and the snitch about the size of a walnut.
The bludgers try and knock the players off their brooms, the quaffle and snitch have point value.

A quaffle through a hoop is 10 points.
The Snitch is 150 points to whomevere catches it.

The keeper defends the goals.
The beaters have a bat and protect their teammates from the bludgers by hitting them away. They also direct the bludgers at the other team.
The chasers play with the quaffle, passing it amoungst themselves to attempt to score.
The seeker tries to catch the golden snitch.

A few t-shirts...well...

It's a little harder for me. When my hair was black, and longer...I looked like an older daniel radcliff, but anyway. These kids would come up to me at work(k-mart at the time) and tell me I looked like harry potter. It's very scary when something like that happens. It's also the other reason I'm called...DaveyPotter... I don't mind, it's just, Everyone at school calls me it. It's sort of my trademark anymore. I'm no longer david..or dave...it's Davey.

By the way wetzel, Don't forget the game doesn't end until the snitch is caught! Usually the team that catches the snitch is the winner of the game!

I guess I'm overdoing it. Me and my friend casey have ripped the books apart somewhat for our 5th book predictions. And everytime we see anything new we discuss it...and...fight...but anyway....Bye bye

My friend Colin really does look like Harry, and when I wear my hair curly I can resemble Hermione, so were keeping an eye out for a Ron and we can be complete :)

It strike me that if you want to win the game by catching that small flying thingy that you would want to do it quickly - before the scores in the game get too high (from scoring those red things).

If your team cant snatch worth a crap, then u need to make it a long game so that the goal points will be worth more than the little buzzy thing...

I gotta read these Harry Potter books. I feel silly not knowing ANYTHING about this game. It sounds intriguing...

Yes, you always want to get the snitch as fast as possible. The only problem they have is, it appears when it wants to. It flies so fast that most of the seekers only see it for a glimpse every so often. In the book there were a few close calls for harry missing the snitch, especially where he almost swallowed it!

Davey Potter you havnt read the books!?!? goodness you better get started (ive read the set 3 times over :)) and you need to be ready for the new book in september!!

What made you think I didn't read the books? I've read them all a few times! I have the set in hard back so I can keep them forever! Besides, I'm awaiting for the 5th book as it is but the publishers aren't sure if it's going to be out on time because JK is feeling a little pressured and is taking longer than she thought.

Don't you just hate deadlines? I wish they wouldn't pressure her so much because she's not going to do as well as if she wasn't pressured at all...and anyway, everyone knows who's going to die.... "Harry's biggest fan" Colin Creevy(sp?).

HEHE i think your right about the 5th book, and ive pre-ordered it, and it said it would be delivered in september, sooo im really hoping for it then (I'm throwing a huge harry potter party :)) So now i can count down untill the 5th book insted of robotics!!

There are reports that the next book will not be out until next year. That would be bad but I think I would rather she get it right than rush.
When the last book came out I had to take my wife to Borders at midnight so we could get a copy right away. It took me most of then next day to read it.

Here's my problem. I have never read any of the Harry Potter books, or seen the movie. My sister has all the books, and I tried to read the first one, but I was torn from the book by the evils of ADD, and due to my lack of having 8 dollars, I couldn't see the movie.

I cannot wait til next year for the book to come out....bleh...that is too long...2 years is too long to wait...

Did you all hear? They are going to postpone the release from the second movie. I'm not sure if they will, but it was on the news here in cincinnati. That so stinks! :eek:
