3 or more bots on the Alliance Platform
Why was it Purposefully stated the 25 points will be giving for 3 or more robots on the ramp at the end of the game? What am I missing?

So 3 robots on a ramp (25 pts) could be 2 blue and 1 red.. Or you could have 3 blue and 1 red (fulfilling the '3 or more' comment) |
Re: 3 or more bots
the rule also means that a robot cannot prevent the opposing alliance from getting the points by taking up space on the opposing ramp.

Re: 3 or more bots
yep but u cant trap robots for more then around 10 secs (i think) on the carpet can you? but u can trap them for as long as u want on your ramp you just need the power to do it.... at least thats how i understand it

I think this was said intentionally. I think you can recieve points for another robot from the opposing alliance being on your platform at the end of the match. |

No i mean if your partners are on the platform along with one of your opponents and you are not your alliance still has 3 bots w/out you, recieving 25 points not 10 |
Re: 3 or more bots
so why cant you take up all the space on the opposite ramp?

You can have two blue robots and one red robot on your platform, and you get 25 points. Heck, if you are blue, and there is one red robot on your platform, you get 5 points. However, the points stop at 25 points for any three robots. For platform points, the robot color does not matter. Quote:

Re: 3 or more bots
Hmm, I'm not quite sure. The wording in the rules sounds a bit iffy to me. If I look at it one way, it's talking about both alliances being able to gain points for this, so even though they mention "either alliance" it could really just mean that both alliances can earn points by getting 1-3 robots on the platform. In this case, "3 or more" might just mean that since the platform is large enough to hold more than 3 bots, you can still get your 25 points if you have all 3 of your bots on along with an opponent bot.
However, the word "either" could mean that any bots on your platform, no matter their alliance, counts as points for you. This could be to your disadvantage, however. True, you could try and trap other bots on your platform and keep one of your bots on the field to try and interfere with their other bots. But think of this. There's a rule that states that if you have a bot on the platform and another one is touching it and also the carpet, the bot on the platform doesn't count. You could have 2 bots on your platform, one completely on and one touching it that's on the platform and the ramp (the bot on the ramp must be touching the one completely on the platform for it to get points), and then their bot that they know cIan't get up their ramp comes over and reaches over and touches one of your bots. You just lost 10 points. I think this might need to be cleared up by a FIRST official. Many of you might think the wording is clear - it MUST mean either color bot counts on the platform. I think there's room for confusion, and I'm sure there are at least a few others who would like some clarification. |

Also as for trapping them in how do you plan on trapping them on your ramp without being behind them, cause i see a pinning violation here. Just curious sounds like something interesting. |
Re: 3 or more bots
Rule G24 mentions that the pinning rule does not apply to a robot that's completley on an alliance platform.

Re: 3 or more bots
The Question has been answered, The possiblities are stated,
3 or more means you can score 3 OR more robots and get 25 points so there is no need for more confusing conversations *per request* The statement they made was that a robot on a platform touching a robot not on the platform wouldn't count. The rule G09 states clearly that they will still count. (pretty sure I read their statement right and the rule right). Anyway, wondering if you could edit or post a reply clearing that one up. *per Request* All right Kiddys, what have we learned Here today 1)G09 clears things up 2)Dean isnt wrong Ed, you are :-p 3) not to drag anyone down, but in situations like this, instead of people replying to a thread, with their opinion the copying and pasting of the rules would work far better CarpeDiem, thanks for the question, Hope you got the answer you were looking for, Keep up the good work |
