I have no idea...We had 20 somthing...But even with that probably only like 5-10 actually worked on the bot regularly. We also had 3 or 4 people on our 'Media Team' who video taped the stuff and did the animations and chairmans award and stuff.

But seriously, how does a team with 90 people work? What the heck do 90 people do?

Coming from a large team (we sent 63 people down to Florida), I can safely say that there were members of my team that had very little to do with the robot. That doesn't mean that they did nothing with the team. We had students working exclusively on the web site and animation, and others working on just the artistic parts of the team (t-shirts, noisemakers, etc.), kids working on the Chairman's Award, and a small team taping parts of the competition for the video. They still contribute, even though they know very little about the robot itself.

Bye the way, the sixty-three also included alumni, teachers, parents, and engineers...i think we had something like 36 actual students-all of whom were at work most of the time.

Our team consists of about 60 students, roughly 30 each from the two schools involved. Because of safety and security concerns, our sponsor only allows us to bring 20 students each to the build site. This seems like a good number for us, but there are problems. Balancing team size and efficiency can be a major problem. naturally we want to be accessible to any students who are interested, but this isnt possible or practical in many instances. We always wind up with students sitting around complaining they have nothing to do. The problem can be made when certain extremely dedicated students tend to monopolize jobs and time(I'm as guilty of this as anyone).

Personally, I think that it doesn't matter what the size of the team is, there will always be at least one person that doesn't know what to do or chooses not to do anything on the team (unless there are only 3 students on the team, then jobs aren't too hard to find). I just get annoyed when people hang out in the pits because they are bored or don't know what to do and they just end up getting in people's way.

We only have 13 students. We are a smaller team, but I like it :D

We have approxiamately 55 registered teammates, by registered I mean they attend ever competition we participate in, we also have 15 advisors. Maybe a better poll would be, whose the biggest team? - Big Steve

Well, I think people have dropped out and it's down to 80, but that's still huge. The rookies might trample me.

Last year we had far less than that, maybe 30-40ish.

I believe I overheard a teacher say that we have 82 students from two schools enrolled in the program this semester. Add to that about twenty adult volunteers (Motorola employees and parents) plus three teachers and a school administrator. Students are selected for Nationals or other travel by their participation in the program and a variety of other factors. About 35 students went to Nationals this year. At our peak, I believe their were 115 students registered a few years back. To put in perspective, the students in our team are registered as a class participant and receive a grade on their report card, based on attendance and quality of work performed. The "class" meets for a minimum of three hours each Monday night during the fall where robot basics and a variety of subjects are discussed. During the robot season as you all know, three hours on one night grows to several hours over several nights. In addition to all that students are also expected to help in some of the many community events we attend and of course Lego League is mandatory as we provide concessions for the Illinois State Competition and volunteers for the event.

It's possible but only if you have enough things to do. Usually we've got almost everyone doing something and we're a group of 30 kids.

we have about 38 kids on our team. there are about 20 who do most of the work. the rest are juniors and watch and learn for the next year when all the seniors are graduated. we have 2 teachers who just advise the team. the students do all the work except for our CNC mills that do some work too.

We have 16 people, our coach, and a few engineers. We split our jobs evenly amongst everyone so everyone has three jobs to take care of. We're a rookie team but we're doing pretty good so far.

weve got about 20 students on truck town. 10 boys, 10 girls. and we have a group of about 10 parental advisors, and 10 engineers who help us. any more, and things would get out of hand

We started the year off with 56. Now a lot of people droped out, and we now have 42 I believe.

We take everyone (who actually works during the build) to the Midwest Regional -- that's about 30-40 kids.

We started the year with about 18 students, now I believe the number is 16. We currently have 1 teacher and 3 "limited use" engineers. Our engineers are extremely busy with deadline for the 2003 launch Mars project so we won't have their help as much this year. The veteran students are really going to have to come together to make this year happen for us.
