STAR WARS EPISODE II

well as most of you know, episode II comes out on the 16th and since there so much hype about the recent release of spiderman i wanted to see whos excited for this release....im not a star wars nerd but i love it and i cant wait...its going to blow spiderman out of the water....thank god for the two week cover...spiderman cannot handle the pressure of spiderman is going to crumble..... :D ;)

Harrison 06-05-2002 12:41

I'll be going to see it...I'm not "hyped" tho...

Suike 06-05-2002 13:24

I'm a big fan of Star Wars and have been ever since I played with my brothers old Star Wars toys (originals) and watched the movies. I was at the first night showing of all the Special Editions and the midnight showing of Episode I. I plan on purchasing advanced tickets here in the next few days for the midnight showing of Episode II. Supposedly it's going to be the best Star Wars ever and I suggest everyone, even if not a fan, see it.

"Do or do not, there is no try." -YODA

mike pawlak 06-05-2002 14:37

my sister has already purchased te midnight screening tickets. its my bday present.

i can't wait

Amy Beth 06-05-2002 15:51

I, for one, am not going to see SWII opening weekend. I consider myself a devout Star Wars nerd, which is why i was so offended at the low quality of SWI. I'll wait...see what other people say and then i'll think about spending my money on it. It's just....we had such high expectations for episode 1. There was so much that needed to be covered to lay the groundwork for episode 2...i was really disappointed. Episode 2 will have to be twice as good as the originals to make up for a pathetic first one. IMO, it would have been better if he never had tried to make a first episode.
/me ducks and runs

oh and btw....i'm willing to bet money that swII can't beat Spiderman. Unless it's really, really good on its own merit, the only people who go to see it will be people who are already fans of the other four. The difference with Spiderman is that it was exciting for comic book fans and normal ppl alike, which is why it already did so well and will continue to do so well.

Harrison 06-05-2002 16:14

I think one of the probs w/ Ep 1 was that it was SOOOO over-advertised, you couldn't help but be disappointed (same thing happened w/ Spiderman)...

Notice now that Ep2 has barely been advertised at all? Maybe Lucan relised the had too much hype for ep 1...So they are lying low now?

DaveyPotter144 06-05-2002 16:34

Having the perks of working at a movie theatre, I'll be able to stay on the thursday before at about 10:30 to watch the screening of it! I'm so excited as well. Every movie must be watched before paying customers seeing it. They let employees come and watch it! Woohoo!

Ben Mitchell 06-05-2002 17:23

I agree with AmyBeth330. Episode I just did'nt make the grade, and if George Lucas is gonna put out another kiddie-krud movie, i'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

As for spiderman, it blew away record ticket sales, making 114 million the first 3 days. I wish i could make 1/2 that in a year:D

I think spiderman may just overshadow Star Wars. And AmyBeth330 is right again in saying that Spiderman has a universal appeal, while starwars only appeals to its own fan base, and of course the little kids that dress up like darth vadar to see it. I'd be shocked if it does nearly as well as spiderman.

:D Someone beat me to saying it all

/me dives into reinforced bunker

Chubtoad 06-05-2002 18:01

I LOVE STAR WARS! I DON"T CARE THE EPISODE I WASN"T AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!

Sure Jar Jar and the whole "new feel" to the vehicles and all the "not good enough", I still liked it for Star Wars, and recently playing "Jedi Knight II" and just seeing A New Hope on TV last night, I CAN"T WAIT I CAN"T WAIT I CAN"T WAIT!!
I must have said "May 16th" about 3 Kabajillion times today because I CAN"T WAIT FOR EPISODE II!!!

:D <<<----Loser:D

Mike Soukup 06-05-2002 18:03

Anxiously awaiting

I'm anxiously awaiting SW II. I won't see it on opening night, and probably not opening weekend either. I hate watching movies with big crowds because they are too loud and I prefer to hear the movie, not the people around me. So I'll wait until mid-week when the crowds are smaller. Plus I don't want to run into any weirdos dressed as their favorite Star Wars character ;) I also heard that a local theater has a digital projector so I'll definately see it on that screen :D

I was disappointed by SW I, it was almost impossible not to be after all the hype.

I haven't heard any reviews yet, but the trailers look good: decent story line & good action. John Williams has another outstanding soundtrack for this movie (the love song is by far the best track on the CD and one of his best songs ever) but I was disappointed that he didn't introduce many new musical themes. So it looks like Lucas has a good movie on his hands.

Then again, that's what I thought in the weeks leading up to SW I...

You just want to steal the show, Mike :) We know you've been working on your Jar Jar costume for months now.

I'll probably wind up seeing it on opening weekend just 'cause there's nothing else to do. Spiderman was reasonably entertaining, and so I'm jazzed for the upcoming movie season.

You won't, however, find me waiting in line for three days to get tickets. Uh-uh. Not again.

Justin 188 06-05-2002 18:33

I only have 4 things to say about Episode II:

1) It doesn't revolve around a kid with fake acting
2) More plot than Episode I (to be expected)
3) Lightsaber action!!!
4) There is a FIGHT SCENE WITH YODA.

Enuf said :)

DaveyPotter144 06-05-2002 21:49

Well, again since I work at a movie theatre, my manager got to see an EARLY screening of it. He's not too credible cause I've liked movies he hasn't but he said it wasn't all that great. He did say there was one fight scene where he wanted to get up screaming cause it was so awesome though. I think that should be interesting especially if it is with Yoda!

Harrison 06-05-2002 22:28

Ben Mitchell 06-05-2002 22:30

How would that worK?

He's so short, it would have to be a light-dagger rather than a light-saber.

 sorry, i had to say it. i promise it would happen again.;)

Harrison 06-05-2002 22:35

Did anyone notice in 4, 5, 6 whenever Yoda was heard, it was the same person who did the voice of Grover (from Sesame Street)...I didn't notice it being him again in Ep 1 tho...

Also, the announcer at the Pod Race in ep1 is Greg Proops - The guy w/ the glasses who is on the American 'Whose Line Is it Anyway' from time to time (no i don't mean Drew)...Interesting, eh?

purplehaze357 06-05-2002 23:26

i noticed the grover but not the whos line...thats interesting though

Suike 06-05-2002 23:41

I knew all those. Frank Oz, Jim Hensons' right hand man, did many of the Sesame Street and Muppets muppets. And yea he also did Yoda. Also I picked up the Greg Proops thing when I first saw SW EP I. And I also noticed ET in the big scene with all the political groups from around the galaxy. There are a lot of "easter eggs" in Episode I. ILM (Lucas' CG Co.) always does funny stuff like that for the hard core fans. And in everyone of Lucas' films you'll notice the number 1138 somewhere. This alludes (AP English word) to his first film THX 1138. Yea so...

As far as Episode I goes, if you imagine that Jar Jar isn't there, it's a pretty good film except for the whole bad acting from that kid and I didn't really like the whole ending where he basically takes out an entire army accidently. But you gotta admit that the dual light sabering n stuff and the awesome Pod Race and introduction of R2-D2 scene is pretty good. It was very childish and over promoted because Lucas was trying to get the "new generation" (all the original Star Wars kids' kids) hyped up for the movie. Now that he has all these new little kids, my 3yr old nephew being one of them, hooked he's gonna make millions. Look at Ice Age, Spy Kids and Shrek... all little kids movies that broke tons of records and made tons.

Now this whole fight scene with Yoda... that must've been hard. Yoda is CG in this movie unlike the other 4 where he was a puppet. Now imagine being an actor trying to fight this short little green invisible character in a light saber battle... tough? YOU BET! And you guys are right when you say that this one will be better because of the older targeted audience and it's the whole "Clone Wars" thing that you heard so much about in the original 3. And somebody told me that one of the critics from TIME Magazine said this was the best Star Wars ever... let's just hope so. I'm tired of Titanic being the #1 movie of all time just because 50 billion teenage girls had to see Leonardo DiCrapio over and over. Don't get me wrong the movie wasn't bad, but it was by far not the best movie ever!

Yea... that's my $.02

Brandon Martus 06-05-2002 23:50

I heard they made the CG Yoda look rubbery and move very similar to the puppet.. so the old-school Star Wars fans wouldn't be totally disgusted by the total change from puppet -> CG

Suike 06-05-2002 23:53

That'd be really nice... you know you really can't tell in the trailer how he looks but if he's all dumb looking then it will throw it off. And I could see the rubber look cuz if you watch Episode I, Boss Nass (Jar Jar's leader dude) is all like rubberized. He is pretty realistic looking, as with most of the Gungans. ILM is by far the best CGFX House there is!!

OtakuRob 07-05-2002 13:51

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that as soon as my semester is over, I'm going to wait outside my local theatre with the midnight screening tickets in one hand and a lightsaber in the other.

Secondly, I'd like to address all this talk about episode one that's going on. A friend of mine summed it up perfectly when it first came out: "It's no trilogy." I doubt Ep II or III will match what the original trilogy meant to us, and we have to see it as that.

It was a good movie, and Lucas was trying to bring in the younger crowd with Jar Jar, and I'm convinced the casting office was on crack when they casted the kid, but it was still a good movie all things considered. Darth Maul is probably one of the coolest looking villains is any movie, and if we can only take that and the pod race scene from it, that should be enough in itself.

Now, as a little side note, instead of Jar Jar, I'm still saying they should have had the Ewoks. But who am I to question Lucas. Look at the whole N'sync cameo.

"You hear Lucas cast N'Sync in a cameo?"
"Did he experience head trauma?! What's he thinking?!"
"They all get killed."
"He's a genius."

And I think that, should be that.

OtakuRob 07-05-2002 13:54

As a PS~ If the original Star Wars was released at the same time as Titanic, it would have made about triple what Titanic made, if I remember correctly. All this inflation and such with movie ticket prices.

Suike 07-05-2002 15:10

What about Spiderman vs Episode II??? Who will have the biggest opening???

Spiderman made something like $114 million in the first weekend!! That's a new record. I don't know if SW will be able to top that. Even though there are all these hardcore fans out there buying up presale tickets and all, SW is more like a "cult" film you know? Not everyone will want to see it so badly where as Spiderman for some reason everyone blew up over. I don't even think that the people in Hollywood saw an opening like this coming. I just hope that SW will have a huge opening. I know I'll see it a few times that weekend. I saw EP I 7 times just because I knew it'd be a while before it came back out on video. I figure I'll see this one about 3 times the first weekend and then a few after that. Plus the next month or so there are no really big movies coming out so now they'll both be able to compeat.

I'm gonna see it opening night at a local theater and then on the weekend I'm taking a little road trip with my friends and we're gonna go over to O-Town (Orlando) and gonna check it out there cuz they have a THX Theater and THX is so awesome... I saw Waterworld and JPII there and it's so much better cuz they got a huge screen too.

Episode II has no chance against Spiderman in that department.... apparently Spiderman is showing in some 7000 cinemas across North America, while Episode II is showing in closer to 5800 cinemas (and the reason is that Lucas only wants Episode II showing in the best cinemas).

Koko Ed 12-05-2002 21:42

Rotten Tomatoes.Com

Rotten Tomatoes.com already has a few reviews of Episode II on their site, mostly from internet geek movie buffs who are Star Wars fans. It was around 58% approval rate last time I checked. It's almost a concensus that the script is bad again. The acting isn't getting much nice said about it either( though Ewan McGregor is said to be awsome in the movie. He's made the role of Obi-Wan his own). One guy was talking about the Yoda battle scene and said it was the funniest thing he's ever seen in his life(I hope that isn't true).
Best thing I heard is that Jar-Jar has only 5 to 10 minutes of screen time, unfortunately some of it is a speech(" must..'uhn'.. get... to...door..'uhn'..losing ....consciousness....."). You do know that Jar Jar Binks is the face of the devil, don't you?(" Yousa soul belong to me now, boss HAHAHAHAHA!").
The romatic stuff sounds unbearable but the whole last hour is one big battle and sounds breathtaking. I still can't wait!

Thursday Night

ill be there thursday night

Suike 12-05-2002 23:05

I'll be there Wednesday at about 10PM just to join in the festivities and then I'll see it at Midnight!!! Yea I know I'm a dork, but I'm not crazy and wait in line for like months to get tickets. I went the smarter approach and got them online a week in advanced. :)

DanL 13-05-2002 09:19

Well after Tuesday, my AP's are over, so I'm pretty much doing nothing for the rest of the year. As a celebration, I think I'll go pre-buy some midnight tickets and call in sick on Thursday ;-)

Suike 13-05-2002 22:08

Ok... since I'm a loser and have way too much time on my hand I decided to do a little bit or research. I went to AMCTheaters.com to look at all the theaters selling midnight showings of SWEP2 and just see how many sold out. After about 20 min of counting I tallied the amount of sold out shows and still open shows. Here's the results:

Out of all the AMC Theaters nationwide and as of 10PM on 5/13, there were a total of 97 theaters and a total of 321 showings selling presale tickets to Star Wars Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones for a midnight showing. Out of those 321 showings, 179 were sold out and 142 were still open. That means that 55.76% of showings were sold out. Some theaters had all 5 showings sold out!! I think Star Wars will end up doing pretty good. Can't wait till Wednesday night/Thursday morning!! AHHHHHHH

Katie Reynolds 14-05-2002 07:35

I get to see Episode II three times within the next week! On Thursday (with Jeremy), on Saturday (with the team) and next Wednesday for a school field trip (Yes, we rented out a theatre and are having 300 people from a few English classes going to see EII.)

It'd better be good! If nothing else, Hayden Christiansen and Ewan McGregor star ::drools:: so...

- Katie

OtakuRob 14-05-2002 14:02

On teh subject of EP II vs. Spiderman:

1) Star Wars is too mainstream to be considered a "cult film". Far much more Star Wars merchandise has sold than Spiderman.

2) Spiderman won't be able to keep up. Even if it is showing in many less theatres, people have been waiting for years to see this movie. And Star Wars has an extra day on top of that. Spiderman was a Fri/Sat/Sun release while EP II is a Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun release.

But, those are just my opinions.

Suike 14-05-2002 16:43

Even if the first weekend isn't that huge... overall Episode II will win. Look how bad Episode I was and it is the 4th highest grossing film ever! Episode II is the "Clone Wars" that you heard so much about in the original trilogy too and plus when it opens in England/Australia and all the other big Star Wars Fans' countries it'll get a lot of money. I think it'll beat Episode I in grossing amount but the weekends, that 114million is gonna be hard to beat.

DaveyPotter144 14-05-2002 21:34

MWAHAHAHA!

I have great news! I get to see the movie tomorrow night! on WEDNESDAY!!! YAY!!

I bet your wondering..."Why the heck, how can that be?"

YAY!!! I'm so excited and I'm going to try to tell some of yous what I think without spoiling anything!

See ya all tomorrow night!

Joe Matt 14-05-2002 22:20

I'm not a looser so I won't be there at midnight :p

JK

I'm going to lie low, see which is better, SM or EpII.

Suike 15-05-2002 21:03

Off to go wait in line to get a good seat in the theater and join in the pre-movie festivities... my review will be up around 3AM (EST) if you wanna wait that long... May The Force Be With You...

And for those of you who have seen it already, please no spoilers.

Hmm, that's a tough one. But I'll try my best to explain.

1) You find out about a great deal of very important characters that were never mentioned in the trilogy or afterwards, and their effects on the Universe are immense.

2) The action sequences were some of the best I've ever seen.

3) Story and characterwise, both were developedf beautifully with no missed details.

4) The ending was.. ugh. I don't know how to put this in writing. I think the best way would be to quote Homer Simpson and say it was "groin-grabbingly good".

5) The fight scene was insane!

I think I put in everything I wanted to say. I loved it, and I may have to agree. This one is definately on par with the Trilogy.

PS~ the fans I saw it with were so hardcore, we were cheering when the previews finally started. Lol.

Do you mean movie merchandise? Of course, there have been five SW movies and only one Spiderman. But there's been a hella more comic book merchandise for Spiderman since he was created. I'd have to see some numbers before i'd believe that SW has really sold more.

I still think Spidey will come out on top. The more theaters help. Plus, people who have never been into the whole superhero universe are going to see spiderman for the third and fourth time. Spiderman was a good movie, and that's not just me speaking. I hope SW is as good as some of you are saying, i really do. But it's gotta have a storyline of its own to get that kind of audiences. The problem with prequels, imo, is that they sometimes do nothing more than lay a foundation for a movie that ppl already love. That's great, but it doesn't get the kind of numbers that spidey's getting.

Guess we'll see who wins. See ya at the box office!

purplehaze357 16-05-2002 22:47

Koko Ed 18-05-2002 00:15

Well It's Better Than Episode One

But I still prefer Spider-Man. It has something that Attack of the Clones greatly lacked:humanity. Peter was actually an interesting person. Ani looks like a grungy Backstreet boy with a trailer too small(Note to Hayden Christensen: when you deliver dialouge try unclenching your teeth when you talk! This is the same kid who people were seriously considering an oscar nomination for Life is a House? What happened?). The Padame-Anakin romance was clunky and dragged the movie down the way Jar-Jar dragged the last one down(It's nice to see Jar-Jar's antics were toned down. He actually seemed warm and regal. Less is more.)It was more than grating. It was painful to endure. The Yoda fight was pretty cool. The effects, the sets and the cotumes were a total Knockout(designing all that cool stuff has to be one of the coolest jobs in history!).The action sequences were great! I just wish George Lucas would get a scriptwriter.:(

Jnadke 18-05-2002 11:07

I really, really like it. It was totally sweet! If you haven't seen it, you definately have to!

Keith Chester 18-05-2002 11:15

It was awesome. Period. End of story.
Spiderman doesnt stand a chance against it. Tobey McGuire was a horrible spiderman with a horrible voice.

Ben Mitchell 18-05-2002 12:05

Star wars was OK. Obi-wan and the others were competant, but whoever played Anakin needs acting lesssons. When ever he would rant, people in the audience were laughing, because he was so over drammatic.

The plot seems rushed, as if George Lucas needed events A B C and D to happen in the movie, it is much more plot-driven, but in a negative way. The movie felt like it was an hour long, I'm not sure if that was good or bad.

I'd rate it a bit below spiderman, becuase I could Identify much more with the charactor, and the movie's underlying themes.

DanL 19-05-2002 00:19

Sorry about bringing back dead posts, but I just got back from Star Wars.

All I have to say is WOW!

Sure, the romance and acting were kinda bleh, a bit too much emphasis was put on natalie portman (i.e. the skimpy skin-tight clothing), and did they REALLY have to rip off the stomach part of her suit? However, I do think Hayden did a good job as Anakin. Yeah, he might have been overly-dramatic in some parts, but you could really see how he was going to become Darth Vader. In Episode 1, Yoda said, "Fear leads to Anger. Anger leads to Hate. Hate leads to Suffering." Hayden went back to this theme as Anakin, especially during the scene about his mother.

Outside the acting, I thought the plot was amazing. Someone before said it was rushed, but I think it was perfect. There was tons going on and you frequently felt lost, but that was the entire bueaty of the thing. The movie was supposed to make you insignificant when you saw the numbers and organization of the clones. The plot just added to this feeling. The foreshadowing was also great. Episode I built up the idea that the Jedi order is supposed to be the ultimate good and in control. Episode II hints about how its falling apart and the chaos that's going to happen.

When I walked out of the theater, I was terrified about the Power and the Might thats going to be displayed in Episode III - and thats EXACTLY what movies are supposed to do. They're supposed to change your emotions and leave you to your imagination. When you walk out of a movie and feel suprised that the outside world is just as it was when you walked in, you KNOW you saw a good movie. For this reason, Episode II was amazing. Definately on par with Lord of the Rings.

As for Spiderman... what Spiderman?

Melancholy 19-05-2002 00:19

rock on little green dude!

did people chant "yoda! yoda! yoda!" at your movie theater during that awesome scene, as they did in mine?

DanL 19-05-2002 00:28

Nah, people weren't THAT hardcore. Although several people kept on clapping and I shouted out, "Yeah Yoda!" :)

DaveyPotter144 19-05-2002 01:12

People stood up screaming and whistling...It was great!

And as for that great little Spiderman vs. Star wars E2
I just wanted to say I work at a movie theatre and Spiderman is definitely making E2 run for it's money. We sold out about 3 or 4 shows at our theatre alone(which only has 10 screens..2 screens devoted to each e2 and Spiderman). It was crazy trying to keep up with the cleaning. E2 though sold out only 2 times but usually they have bigger numbers because they are in the bigger theatres at the moment. I am not surprised about e2's business, but we were shocked about how well spiderman is doing in the midst of e2.

Just thought I would try to shed some light! ;)

Hey check this out...

http://www.theforce.net/episode2/index.html#16664

Unfortunately Star Wars didn't do as good as I had hoped... oh well, it'll still beat Spiderman in the long run and hopefully Titanic for that matter. :)

Wow!! I never thought about that. Just think... SPOILER ALERT!!!(Highlight to read) Anakin FEARS that his mother may be dead when Lars tells him that she was missing and that Tusken Raiders had something to do with it. Then he gets ANGRY at the people that could have hurt his mom and decides to go find them. He finds his mom in the camp all busted up and then she dies and he now HATES the Tuskens. After going on a psychotic rampage and killing them all he goes back and cries because of what he did; he SUFFERS. Neat eh? I don't see any good themes like that in Spiderman. :)

Justin 188 19-05-2002 13:09

What about "With great power comes great responsibility"?

:D

Ben Mitchell 19-05-2002 13:50

Folks in the theater I was in were:

Laughing when Anakin's mother died, and he flipped out

Cheering when Yoda was on screen

And whistling for Natalie Portman...it was a loud movie:D

Suike 19-05-2002 18:12

That's how I am during the movie too... I scream, cheer and make comments like, "Just kiss her and get it over with!" or like when the music cuts out during the kiss and she says, "NO!" I go, "Oh man, you just got shut down!" I love this movie!!

Back to the whole Spiderman vs. ATOC, well I figured that the way they do this whole grossing thing is stupid. It shouldn't be how much money you make but how much the movie grossed per screen, or even theater. Spiderman and Harry Potter (top 2 highest weekend films) both were in a little over 3,600 theaters which is about 8,000 screens each. Star Wars is in 3,100 theaters and only 6,100 screens!! Those extra 2000 screens sure do help out. So why don't they figure it out by theater gross or screen gross??

Justin 188 19-05-2002 21:34

AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

YODA IS THE FRIGGIN BEST!!!!!!!!!
GUESS WHAT MOVIE I JUST SAW!!!!!!!

Suike 19-05-2002 23:16

Yea... he's cool... he hops around like a Lemming bouncing and spinning and kicking butt. And then when it's all over, he walks away with his cane. Pretty cool, I suggest you see it. The $8.75 alone is worth it. ;)

DanL 20-05-2002 00:17

You just saw Spiderman? Bah! You shoulda spent your $8.75 on Episode 2. You could have seen Yoda with a light-saber. :)

Great game.

DaBruteForceGuy 20-05-2002 15:28

AWESOME!

I m sort of a Stars Wars lover, and i thought it was better than the "action packed" (as some may call it), Episode 1.
i thought it was awesome how they had so many references to the first three.
though i still don't uderstand how people still don't relise that they are PREQUILS and not SEQUILS!:D

PLUS, HOW COULD ANYBODY PASS-UP SEEING YODA KICK SOME DARK SIDE #$@!!!

Oh man! I LOVED that game! One of the BEST old-skewl games, except for maybe Commander Keen. :) I tried looking through my old floppies to see if I still had it. Turns out I don't. :( But I DID find

this disk.

No idea what it is, but it looks really cool. :D

Ryan Dognaux 20-05-2002 19:39

Star Wars AOTC is awesome!

I thought Star Wars: AOTC was much better when compared to Spiderman, not saying that Spiderman was a bad movie or anything... I'm just a Star Wars addict lol Spiderman could've been much better, The Green Goblin?! What kind of Villian is THAT?! Doc Oc should've been the villian... on the other hand, Star Wars AOTC was great, Mace was like "yo' this party is over!" leading me to think there's a little Shaft involved there... Overall Star Wars was cool, Boba Fett was a little fat kid though.. not cool... I highly recommend seeing AOTC over Spiderman anyday - Ryan AKA 'Raul'

Wayne Doenges 20-05-2002 21:56

I thought Star Wars II was alright but I think George Lucas should stick with what he knows like kick a** action scenes and stay away from things he doesn't know like love scenes. The love scenes with Padme and Anakin stunk.
I think Anakin should not be given a Light Saber until he promises not to break them or lose them :)
Also, when did R2D2 forget how to fly? I didn't see him flying in SW IV, V or VI, did you?
Also, in SW IV, how come R2D2 or C3PO didn't recognize Luke's Aunt and Uncle's house?
All in all I thought the movie was pretty good. Boy, can Yoda dish it out.

Just my $.02 worth
*puts on flame suit with matching goggles :D

I wondered some of the same things, and here is how I understand them:

With R2, the rockets are only under warranty for so long by the company that manufactures him. R2 is already kind of old, this can be seen with the R4 unit Obi-Wan uses. So by the time episode IV roles around, they prob just don't work.

With the droids not remembering the house, think about how many times they are re-programmed. C3PO doesn't even recognize R2 from the first movie =)

This is how I see it.

DaveyPotter144 20-05-2002 22:35

That makes much sense. Now that I think about it.

I just wanted to let you all know that yoda is the bomb...even those that already knew it. I work at the movies and everytime it gets near the yoda part I am in there watching it!

I love hearing the "oh my" "yoda!" and gasps that people are making. I don't know about other fans of SW but it's amazing to finally see Yoda fight. He's gone through most of the movies with such a role that seemed insignificant, but to finally see him in action...it makes everything worth the money...even though I don't pay for tickets but oh well.

As for spiderman, I found a flaw!!!

Did anyone notice when Osborne lays down and gets put into the chamber for the exp? Ok, well, when it raises up did anyone notice how those electrodes magically appear?

Strange, the dark side is.

Kicks Spideys butt, Yoda does!

Suike 21-05-2002 00:06

As for all those "flaws" or continuity problems with the new and old trilogy... look at it like this.

Between SW I and SW II there is a 10 year gap. Between SW II and SW III there is a gap of like 5 years. Between SW III and SW IV there is something like a 15-20 year gap and so on with these gaps of 5+ years... If you were a droid, you'd get reprogrammed many times during these years as well as forget if you have boosters or not. The thing I'm really wondering is what happened to the galaxy. It seems that in the new trilogy there is this huge deal with really advanced technology that in the last trilogy there just isn't any. I look at as almost a "Dark Ages" deal. It's weird...

BTW, did anybody by chance catch the Biography of George Lucas on A&E? It was pretty good. This whole week they are showing Biographies on Star Wars actors. Tomorrow is Mark Hamil. Don't miss it!! Starts at 8pm. And also may I suggest everyone check out www.theforce.net << good info as well as a funny humor section and for Star Wars humor check out www.holonetnews.com. Well I'm off to finish my essay and to listen to more Star Wars music from John Williams (the God of music). May the force be with you!
