Ours was 10:30 every night, IIRC... and they also had room checks to make sure we were all in there. I didn't mind it though. I needed the sleep.
And we didn't get tape on our doors, either. :p |
Tape.....hehehe
I remember seeing "tape" at the All-Star Music in 2001....
Me and a few of my friends just couldnt resist from taking it off the door...hehehee :D |
to all teams
This whole tape thing is dumb, So i propose that all teams remove any tape that u see at nationals or regionals, in order to stop this tyranical system.
WE MUST UNITE |
haha.. sounds like a plan.. we'll all unite and align for next year...
|
I remember being taped into my room in 8th grade, when we went into our class trip to Washington, DC...but thats soooo random, taping in high schoolers?? Not fair...sorry you had to deal with that...
|
Regarding taping doors
As a chaparone I tend to wonder, what did the team do so that the adults did not think they could trust them to stay in their rooms?
|
As an adult who half the students tended to forget was an adult (not sure what that says about me) I heard stories about things that happened in 2001 despite the chaperones efforts... but they are not repeatable here...

the chaperones dont like it too much...the kids that had the tape on the door also get in trouble so watch yourself...btw did anybody take any tape off this year? |
I would love to unite and liberate those of the imprisoning taping, I dont think our team really did do anything bad, im not sure why they wouldnt trust us or whatever...we got taped at regionals too...i can kinda understand it at Nats because we were staying in a motel that just opened up to the outside...but in st louis, hmmm, dont know why. At nats we were taped in with electrical tape, i guess thats all they had, think about it, electrical tape is quite stretchy and just peels off the door...not very good for detecting a midnite escape...lol.

We didn't get to go to nationals ( couldn't afford it )....but when we were in cleveland....we had a curfew of around 12. But we sure as heck didn't stick to it. I got sick, and ended up with my own suite, but the other kids were running around the hotel, playing in the lobby at 4 am, and things of the sort. Um, I do however, remember going to Chicago in 9th grade ( not with first ), they duct-taped us into our room. Luckily, we had plastic knives in our room, and were able to cut ourselves out and go to the pool at 1 in the morning!!

yeah, jsut let everyone do what they want
Chaparone: Hello, Mrs. X. Your son is in the hospital. Seem he and some friends went in the pool after closing and there was an accident.
Mrs. X: What was he doing in the pool after closing? I trusted you to take care of him. Chaparone: Well, we told them to go to their rooms but we did not do anything to make sure they stayed there. Mrs. X. What do you mean you didn't do anything? You know they snuck out at the regionals. Chaparone: Well, yeah , but .... Mrs. X: You have a good lawyer I trust. He will be hearing from mine. |

thats a good reason to have the curfew rule. a few stupid kids can ruin it for everyone else. now you guys will be forced to have a strict curfew. trust me, i know from experience |
Forms
Do any other teams have to sign swimming forms and overall "field trip" release forms??
|
this year after nats we had to sign some medical release forms because we had one of our students (robot operator:( ) get really sick and go to the hospital. we had signed them in order to ensure that student can get emergency medical attention if needed and the school or teachers would not be held responsible.
