Shooters or Nonshooters

How many ppl are looking more towards the shooting and mostly going after the 3's instead of gathering numerous balls and going primarily for the 1's??

I feel that most teams will start out with shooting. As the season progresses and if the team feels that they can't get the shooter to work, they can easily switch to a gathering bot, similar to those from 2004.

This is just like last year's dilemma between capping and containing, with one difference: it was more advantageous to cap because it allowed you to own a goal that was already capped.

This year, the only difference between the center goal and the side ones is the score. So I think that though we will see a lot more teams going for the side goals than last year, shooters will still outnumber non-shooters.

I agree. When I voted it was 2-roller 9-shooter

I expect the ratios to be the opposite if you do a post-ship poll.

if u did shoot balls and gather the balls first in a hopper like structure how would u manage getting the balls from the hopper into your shooter without over loading ur shooter???

We're planning on putting in a hole in the bottom-side of our hopper that is just over 7", only allowing one ball at a time to go to the shooter. The rest of them can be safely dumped. Unfortunately, this means the shooting mechanism is toward the bottom of our robot, which means it can be easily blocked. Also, it would shoot from the side, not the front or back of the robot. I suppose if you're going with a catapult design, this could work out well.

I think that many people will try for shooters, but of those a large percentage will either
a) not succeed and switch to hitting the corner goals
or
b) succeed but without accuracy, and keep the shooter anyways because it is such a cool idea
