Mounting the MiniBike CIM
What are people's plans for mounting the large CIM? I thought I'd try and get some professional opinions , instead of " if the setscrews don't hold, we'll use some zipties". Maybe Andy Baker can elaborate (or anyone who owns the part) on how they mounted the motor.

Re: Mounting the MiniBike CIM
I think he clamped the actual motor to his gearbox, and then used that protruding screw to stop the motor from turning itself (drilled a hole into the metal for it to fit into it. Mind you, that's what I THINK, that doesn't mean that that's what he actually did

Re: Mounting the MiniBike CIM
There are CAD files and an assembly procedure for the "Upgrade Kit" at www.andymark.biz.
I hope this helps. Andy |
Re: Mounting the MiniBike CIM
I'm drilling a .190 hole in that tab sticking out and leaving about .11 of radial meat. Then using the remaining stud for the other mount point. Although I'm using the motor for a ball shooter, which won't see much torque. If you wanted to mount it in a transmission I'd recommend replacing the shorter bolt with one another 1/2"-3/4" longer maybe, and then also using the tab to drill out a 3rd. Just for those big torque spikes and vibration. But it may be fine with just 2 bolts and a good torque on the fasteners.

Re: Mounting the MiniBike CIM
Thanks! I really like that mounting connector. I wanted to make sure that my mount wouldn't explode halfway through launching a ball. Messy...
