Making spheres in Inventor

I was wondering how you can make a sphere in Inventor. I currently am using Inventor 10 and would like to model the Poof balls in our robot drawing.

I would make a half of a cross section and then revolve it. Putting the markings on it and the dimples is another story...

It's relatively easy, but I haven't drawn a sphere in months (since CAD II class last school year) so forgive me if my instructions are wrong.

1. Draw a circle 7 inches in diameter.
2. Draw a line straight through the center of the circle vertically.
3. Trim one half of the circle.
4. Get out of sketch mode (finish sketch). I'm assuming you were in sketch mode previously.
5. Find the command called revolve. Click on it.
6. Highlight the remaining half of the circle, and choose to revolve 360 degrees around the vertical line as your axis. Revolve to a full extent.
7. Click OK and that should do it, you will have a sphere.

I was trying to load inventor up while doing this to create better instructions, but the video card screwed up. So if I got any of this wrong, I will edit. ;)

[Edit] It's all correct now, that should do. [/Edit]

you have to use the Revolve tool in the 3D menu.

your sketch must be a half-circle with a line closing it, like this:
note: the line must pass the center of the circle otherwise it will not be a sphere

OR...

You could extrude a 7'' cylinder
Then fillet both ends by 3.5''

:ahh:

After all that you should put a work plane going half way through the sphere. Then click split faces, use the work plane as the plane and click the face of the sphere for the face. Then you can right click on each half individually and color each one accordingly.

Hah, I just helped out a team member with the same exact thing. The way I make spheres in by making a line the diameter of the circle, then I make a semi-circle with the center point arc thing. Then I revolve. I think that's the easiest way to do it, or the way that requires the least number of steps.
