I'm not going to lie: we're two steps ahead of you.

We already have an easy button purchased, and next week it's going to get gutted and placed in our new operator interface.

Re: easy button

Reminds me of something that came up during kickoff. With the new game revolving around shooting, a parallel was drawn to the gunnery systems aboard naval ships. The 4 positions on the arena floor can now be renamed:

Human player: Munitions System
Driver: Weapons Platform Control
Button-Masher: Fire Control System
Coach: Officer on Deck

(Disclaimer: I'm not trying to imply that this is a violent game this year. It's just that the roles of the players this year are similar to the roles of a gunnery post in the Navy.)

We were thinking of having an easy button that just sits there and glows, and having a different button for firing. Yeah decorations!

Re: easy button

THE EASY BUTTON!!! jeez, like someone said earlier, I wish I had one on my calculus hw. but anyways, I think if your bot releases balls in any way, it should be rigged to the EASY BUTTON!!! that way, someone yells "fire in the hole," then a voice from the station goes, "That was easy." :D

Re: easy button

Speaking of funny buttons I was wandering toward Chinatown in NYC when I stumbled across a cool little art design store i'd never seen before. After looking through the store for a bit, I saw the "Emergency Button" It was a small plastic stand with a red button under a caution coated flap. I laughed but the amusing part was that, Sitting next to it was the "Emergency Button DX" a small plastic stand with 3 switches, 2 buttons and the same emergency button. Next to that on an even larger plastic stand was a large plastic panel labeled, "Emergency Button Super DX 3000" It had something like 5 buttons, 5 switches, 2 keys(that need to be turned simultaneously) to unlock the emergency button. A whole lineup of emergency buttons.

So I turned around, they had some cool model anime robots sitting on display. Hidden underneath though in a giant display case was the "Emergency Button Millenium Edition" An entire metal work case, with fold up lid that displayed a map of the world, coverd in dials, at least 50 buttons, 40 switches, 4 simultaneous keys, a plethora of other little doohickys and of course a giant emergency button! It made my day. It was limited edtion only 10 were going to be made.

In all of them the switches weren't hooked up to anything, but they looked like real buttons and switches so they probably could be rigged up to work with a first robot. It would be so awesome to show up with the emergency button millenium edition.

on second hand... this story may have been a, have to be there for moment. :)

Just to be different, I want to have this one on the controls:

It's what they have on the French version of the "easy" buttons that they sell here in Quebec.

Re: easy button

kudos will go to the teams that use the easy button on their controls but still have it say "that was easy" when pushed.....

situation: Easy button controls our automatic shooter mechanism it fires a shot and after "x" amount of time (when the ball should have been scored) the button says "that was easy"

operator:"thanks easy button"

Re: easy button

We have one in out build are but after som thought it sounds like a good idea for control panel, a nice large button to shoot. And we will take off the esay and put FIRE on it instead but it will say "that was easy". :D

Someone asked me "what does this red button do" on a previous year's controls.

I said, "I'm not sure. It's either the easy button or the self destruct button... press it to find out."

red buttons...

Me:(staring at very big red button on complicated console)...(short
pause) *press button*

nothing happens
Me:(start mashing button like crazy)
Professor:What on earth are you doing?
Me:(stop pressing button) I wanted to see if there will be an explosion
when I press this button.
short pause

Professor:Oh, I see! You want to blow up the world!
Me:So what will trigger it?
Professor:The lever all the way down there.
(I walk over to the lever and pull it)

very long pause

*BOOM*

Man, everyone is getting braggy about who had an easy button first.

I need to think of something cool and unique to use as part of our controls next year.... maybe a furby?

It could tell your drivers where to move the robot next. Freaky
