godaddy.com question
i just joined this team, and this is the first year they've had a website. one mentor offered to pay for our website out of her own pocket (long story short: school wont host it on their servers, so we told her and she bought us some hosting).
all of this was three days ago at around 6:00 PM Pacific. i went home and got the email saying i could register the domain and such at around 8:30 PM pacific. the email also stated that after the domain is registered it would take 24 to 48 hours to complete. it is now saturday 10:40ish PM pacific. the site isnt up. the domain is still unregistered. what is going on. all of this is under godaddy.com. we got 12 months of deluxe hosting with a $1.99 domain included. anyone have any history hosting with them? i was also wondering if i'm supposed to manually point the ip to the domain even though they said they would do it automatically. |
Re: godaddy.com question
Hi Thomas,
godaddy is, to my knowledge and experiance, a good company (i have a domain from them that i have never had problems with). 1)Is the hosting up? did you get an e-mail with a password or something? you should be able to access the hosting even without a domain... it would probably look like: http://hosting.godaddy.com/~user_name but i wouldn't really know because I never got hosted there. if you did not get any e-mail from them: -check that your e-mail address in your godaddy profile is correct. -check that the transaction was actualy completed (ask your mentor to check his bank statement or something..) -email godaddy.com explaining the problem. 2)regarding the domain... it can sometimes take a long time, even more than three days for the domain to propagate throughout the nameservers... try from a computer that has a different ISP, and also just be patient for about 48 more hours... hope that helps! -Leav |
Re: godaddy.com question
thanks for the quick reply.
all my stuff is right. i can go into the hosting.secureserver.net whatever it is and do stuff. i can see files in the account through filezilla too. since ordering ~30 kb has been added. i've been getting "just wait until next week" speech all day(btw, working saturdays arent as fun as i hoped lol). i've never ordered a domain before, so i dont know how long it would take anyway. thank again mang. |

Re: godaddy.com question
I have been with godaddy for a while and never had problems. The easiest way to resolve this is to call up their tech support. They are extremely friendly and helpful. The number is (480) 505-8877. Have your account number and domain name ready.

Re: godaddy.com question
What is your domain? I'd like to see what happens if I try to go to it. For DNS propagation, it is actually a lot faster than it was just a few years ago. Most of mine have taken only maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of a day at the absolute most, and sometimes they are extremely fast (few hours).
I think you need to check your nameservers. |
Re: godaddy.com question
