What speed(s) are your computers

A couple years ago I posted this same thread (located here if anyone wants to see the results). Now I would like to see some updated results as our systems change. Feel free to post any specs of your systems below. This is especially interesting now due to the clock speed differences due to dual core and intel vs amd

My home system is currently the same one posted later in that thread:
2.8C Ghz P4
Abit IS7 - Has since been fully replaced once (due to popped out fan brackets) and the northbridge fan 4 times (current one now dying again)
1GB DDR400
2x 160GB Seagate 7200.7 SATA
300GB Seagate 7200.8
Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
SB Audigy 2 Platinum
NEC ND-3500 16x DL DVDRW

Now use for programming during robotics (and at my house rest of the year):
HP nc6000 Laptop
1.8GHz Centrino
512MB DDR 333
40 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Mobility Radeon 9700

and

Older HP Laptop
Athlon 2500+
512 DDR 266
30 GB Hard Drive

My iBook:

1.42 GHz G4 Processor (PowerPC for lizz-ife...or until I can afford a Mactel)
1 GB of RAM (trust me, it screams with a gig, especially after life with 512 MB)
80 GB Hard drive
OS X 10.4.4 (the most beautiful OS I've dealt with)

200GB SATA HD
120GB, 80GB ATA HD
Asus Radeon 9800XT
SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
52x Lite-On burner
16x DVD
17" CTX LCD
Logitech MX Duo

Laptop:
IBM Thinkpad T23
P3 1.13GHz
512MB RAM
30GB HD
14" screen
built in 802.11b
DVD/CDRW combo

Plus I still have the PCs in the old thread, but they're not operational.

I submit to you this:

AMD64 clock speeds are typically lower than Intel P4 clock speeds for similar performance. This poll cannot accurately compare performance of people's computers as-is.

I have a desktop P4 @3.00GHz and a laptop AMD64 3200+ @2.0GHz and my laptop can run faster than the desktop depending on the circumstances.

Re: What speed(s) are your computers

Agreed with Adam. I have a AMD 64 3500+ that runs at 2.2 ghz clock speed, but would most certainly blow 2.2 ghz intels out of the water.

Full setup:
AMD 64 3500+
1 gb RAM
Geforce 6800 GT
200 gb HD
+dvd, card reader, anything else you could imagine.

I already mentioned this in my initial post. While the difference may be more exaggerated now, this offset was there for the original poll as well. My main purpose here was for comparison, and since both manufacturers have increased clock speeds, this is still somewhat valid.

The same holds true with Pentium M.

My 2.0 Dothan would murder a 2.0 P4.

Just for kicks...

Home Made:
Dual 2.0 GHZ AMD M
512MB Will become over 1.5GB in a few days.
80GB+
160GB+
200GB+
200GB+
52xCD
16XDVDRW
Radeon 7000
Win2003 server
Apache

My server which I run about 6 websites off and do major video editing on, I have never seen the usage go above 30%. Runs constant every day unless I do hardware upgrades, longest run time between restarts was I believe 120days.

Re: What speed(s) are your computers

The fastest computer I have is my "good" Toshiba Satellite laptop, a 1.6 P4 with 512MB, 30GB and XP home.

The second fastest I have is my "second/beater" laptop I got off eBay for a toatl of $412 including shipping. Is also a Satellite with a 650MHZ Celeron, 320MB, 30GB and 2000 Pro.

Then I have an HP Pavilion but it's currently dead right now. It's a 533MHZ P3, 256MB, 30GB and has 98SE on it.

The computer I'm on now is a built computer with a 500MHZ AMD K-6, 256MB, 20GB and 2000 Pro.

Then there's also my oldest still running computer that's also still part of my home network as is all the above computers. It's a built 233MHZ P1, 256MB, 4.3GB with 98SE.

Laptop:
AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2.0GHz clock speed)
512MB RAM
80GB IDE
15.4" WXVGA Brightview

Family Desktop (that I never use):
Intel P4 3.2GHz
512MB RAM
180GB IDE
19" LCD

Server:
Intel P120
64MB RAM
8GB IDE
Runs LAMPPP (PHP, PERL, Python) good
Runs Blackbox WM decently, kinda lags when I use Synaptics

I have about three other towers downstairs that I have yet to set-up. They probably have specs about the same as my P120.

Re: What speed(s) are your computers

AMD Turion 64 ML-34
It spends most of its time at ~800MHz, but will ramp up to 1.8 as needed.

My desktop only has a 1800+ (Palomino) in it, but it is 5 years old now. It was screaming back when I got it.
