What is Photoswitch?

Hi! I was looking throught the sensors and I found this bag and it says "PHOTSWITCH" Trans-Beam Receiver (IR) anyone has any idea of what kind of sensor it is and what is the purpose of it and how it works? Thank you! :)

Re: What is Photoswitch?

The IR transmitter/reciever pair is for object detection (when an object passes through a point, it breaks the light beam and triggers the sensor).

To answer your question: Wikipedia:Photoswitch. (Ok, I just created that. Please expand!)
