Animation in general can get hard at times, and you can screw up and delete stuff sometimes that you shouldn't (bad experience), the key is not to stress out. What I like to do when I stress out is get outside and walk around the block. The reason that helps is it doesn't allow you to spread your angry to others, because it can create a domino effect. So chill :D . Enjoy the season while it is here :)

That's Max for you....
Hang in there.
If there is a problem just bring a question to these pages. There are plenty of experinced animators who will be willing to help you out. If they are not able to answer your question try CG talk.
And remember. Save every five minutes.

Re: Stressed out animator

lol, yeah i know the feeling. last year we came to school about 4 days or so before the animation was due, and the school's server had crashed. we were able to recover most of the models, but we lost ALL the textures. We had to render that night, so we had to re-texture everything in one day.
That computer lab saw much blood, sweat and tears that day. some of us spent 14+ hours working on the animation that day. It was the worst. Everyone felt terrible and the animation turned out about 10-20% less cool than is was origonally supposed to.
The lesson learned is that you shouldn't freak out too much, cuz there will only be more stress later, and you can only handle so much. oh, and back up everything you can. twice. and caffeine is good.

Also, if you pull long meetings, take a break. I force my animators to take a 1-2 hour game break every saturday meeting.

you force them phil ? its more like ur stuck playingbattlefront and dont even want to go to the team meeting haha jp ohh and the animation turned out crappier id say 50 percent at least because we had to redo all the textures in a matter of hours and none of the shading and stuff worked right

but yeah sometimes max is a pain and i agree maybe we need a little shotting game ? where you can shoot the 3ds max logo and kill it over and over with a rocket launcher or something ...

or i guess a 3dsmax logo shaped punching bag would be great. i saw one in the form of bill gates i wish i would have that

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. lol.
I WOULD force them if they ever didn't want to play... if...
playtime is good. especially during meetings longer than 4 hours.

Re: Stressed out animator

yeah personally we gota thingk of a good beginning for our animation cause it just kinda well pops in

make sure it ends with a good strong opinion of what the video is about or what you believe in. voice overs help alot too, so make sure u get a good voice over and or some good music.
