Team DVD Requirement
 
My team and I have been going over the DVD requirement for this year's Chairman's Award and I think we may be going waaaay overboard on this one, especially since there are no specified requirements for the video. How have teams tackled this in the past? I remembered seeing videos being displayed about 2 years ago when we were able to go to Nationals, but I'll admit I wasn't paying particular attention to them. Any suggestions would be nice!

hey our team has done an iMovie every year since 2003
all we ever do is take pictures and video and make a documentery of our team it usually turns out quite cool we all contribute a lil bit and everybody votes on what music to play in the back ground
I can see if we can send you a copy of last years...

Danny,

I believe you may have misunderstood the DVD requirement. I believe the DVD requirement is only for the Hall of Fame teams to display in their booth at the Championship event. It is part of their submission to attain Star Status as well. Teams submitting for the Regional Chairman's Award are only required to complete the Executive Summary and Essay at www.firstawards.org.

However, I hope that you will not let the work you have put into this DVD go to waste - it will be an excellent addition to your pit for the judges and other teams to view. Depending on its length, perhaps you can include part or all of it in your presentation to the interview judges.

oh well i didnt know thats what you meant... we dont enter it for an award or anything... we just do it to kindof market ourselves... sorry i couldnt have been of more help to you though.

This is what the rule book says about the DVD requirement:

NEW: DVD Requirement
FIRST requires teams to enhance each submission by creating a DVD, which must be mailed to FIRST headquarters, attention Sue Robinson, postmarked no later than February 23, 2006. Teams must bring a copy of the DVD and have equipment to show it at their booths at The Championship.
Congratulations to all the previous Chairman's Award winners! This year's thirty-three (33) Regional Chairman's Award winners will vie for the one spot reserved for the 2006 winner
So this is the way I interpret it:
There is a DVD that acts as an assistant to the Executive Summary and Essay that is submitted. All teams that will be competing for the Chairman's Award must also submit a DVD that includes whatever you feel is necessary to include in whatever length of time you feel is reasonable. This is just not for winners of the Chairman's Award at the Regional level because the DVD must be postmarked by the same day that all Chairman's Submissions are due.

The DVD requirement is listed under 9.2.6 Hall of Fame section. The latest revision now says "encourages" instead of "requires".

It is not part of the Regional Chairman's Award.

The DVD is not for all teams, JUST the Hall of Fame members.
