Ball Compression?

For those of you who are using rollers to shoot your ball, how much compression are you using on the ball to get more traction? For example, the prototype I made this weekend had a roller and a plate, with a 6" gap between them, so that is a 1" compression on the ball.

Also, I have noticed that the faster you spin the wheel, the less compression you need. Hence, along with compression, what is the surface speed of the rollers you use?

Thanks.

Re: Ball Compression?

We tried various amounts of compression and found that we got the best results between 5.5 and 6 inches.

At 4", what we were shooting out had little resemblance to a ball :D

i think that a lot of that discussion is going on in this thread: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=41961
