Google Cam

Did any one get a memory stick in their kit for the google cam??

Re: Google Cam

No, there wasn't an SD card with the camera. However, there is some onboard storage in volatile memory (meaning download the pictures before turning it off for any significant amount of time).

Check around online, like on Froogle and Newegg, for an SD card. You should be able to get a decent one for somewhere around $20-30.

512 mb sd card for $21 (after $7 rebate).
I got one for my personal camera and have not had any problems with it.

Hold down the button on the back of the camera to turn it on.

I get this message "sto" on the back.

Any ideas?

Re: Google Cam

are you getting it while plugged in to a pc? or is it always like this?

when it is plugged in, it says "Sto". this is the mode it needs to be in for you get pictures from the camera.

there are 2 modes. Sto and PCC. when you're in pcc you can use the software it came with and use it as a webcam and save video to your pc.

NO WAY! That's sweet!

And everyone was bashing these cams for being "not powerful enough." They may have cut corners to keep price down, but this is a pretty solid product as far as I can tell.

Someone said you could take pictures without a storage card. How do you do this?

The sto was while it was plugged into my PC. I have not seen PCC yet.

Re: Google Cam

It's a $20 camera that happens to be in our kits isn't anything to fantasize about. I like the camera's size, and It's good for teams that just might not have a digital camera. Times are tough, so we should be lucky that we are so fortunate. I forgot what team this was, but CNN did a documentary about them and even though the had i think about a 1000 dollars to put into the robot, they still won an award. This camera can very easily symbolize Gracious Professionalism, but you guys should think about that yourselves. If I sound like this ( ) I just mean to shed some light on the less fortunate teams. :)

press MODE. aim. press the shutter button up top. i dont know how much the onboard memory holds, but i've had ~20 pictures on there at once on high res.

when it says 'Sto' when it's plugged in, that means you are in that mode, and you will be able to see pictures if you navigate to the camera via My Computer.

also, to get to pcc (trusting you have the MegaCam PCCam software installed):

press MODE to turn it on. press MODE until it says 'SET'. press the shutter button. press MODE untill it says 'Sto'. press the shutter button once and make sure it says 'PCC' and stop. plug the camera in while the PCCam software is open.
