How far ahead is FIRST in Game Design

Our team leader remembered a thread from as far back as 2002here
Is the 2010 game designed already? Im sure when they started making these larger games they had tons of ideas written down and I'm sure they just dont throw them away. Just a thought....

I think the red herrings have probably been planned out to 2020.

wow, that is far back. Rees does remember things after all :D . 2002 was the year were they used soccer balls to shoot in movable goals. maybe FIRST was experimenting with different kinds of round balls and finally decided to stick with soccer balls. i could be wrong, but that sounds reasonable to me.

I've heard the game is fully planned through 2009 and in the 2010 game FRC and FVC robots will be working together to cut Dave's hair, mow his lawn, and serve him dinner. ;)

Don't forget the little guys. Those NXT's will be on a mission to bring a tall cool drink to the hammock. And the Jr. FLL'ers will be linking the pathway to the hammock.

No, way! I don't think they even consider what the game will be until Thanksgiving. That way, Dave can spend sleepless nights doing the animation.
Rumor has it here that "pool noodles" will be used next year. :yikes:

So, you think it's going to be a rodeo game? Robot barrel racing? Human player robosteer roping? A Wildstang bucking competition? Robots that ride bulls?

Will Dave even *have* hair in 2010? I wonder what that would look like....perhaps an expert Photoshop artist could provide us with a look into the future.

Wrong again, Kressly! You had already been told that the 2009 game will be scaling and cleaning all the fish caught during the 2008 underwater game. The robots don't get to cut my hair until 2011.

Dave, I haven't been negative about any FIRST game yet, but scaling and cleaning fish in 2009 that were used in 2008 is going to stink. Literally. :P

On a less-joking note, what is the rough timeline for the GDC?

Eh...funny thing...

That post when I made it was completely made up. A hoax in an attempt to get people talking about the possiblities of using slinky's. (Joke was on me because everyone figured to talk about Poof balls instead.)

FIRST may plan ahead that far...but this isn't actual evidence of it.
